  6. Well I really do appreciate all the advice, thx guys. I wasnt completely enclosed so I thought that was enuff, evidently not. I will get a detector tomorrow and do some cold work for awhile.... Rich i will try and find the post. Coincidently I had a blood test today...I wonder if that will show up...anyway thx again for the advice!
  7. I worked in places that had propane forklifts and heaters and was always told that propane exhaust is not harmful. I wonder? I put a long day in burnin and pounding yesterday. When I was finished I ate and went right to bed. I figured I was just tired from workin all day....I wonder because today I have had a small dull headache and also been tired still. I run a single burner in a none insulated garage. There are two doors (garage type) that I keep 3-4 inches open and I have a man door open to the outside in another room. I thought that would be plenty of air but today I am not so sure. Otherwise I feel fine. So I think I am putting a sensor of some sort in there just to make sure. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the only thing I can figure. What do ya'll think? FP
  8. hey rich how heavy is that hammer u use...and how long is the handle?
  9. hey Mr Dean I am outside of Reading PA bout 60 mi west of philly....however I will be in Texarkana around the first week in March
  10. funny thing, today I was with my teacherand he showed me how to do a faggot weld....he took about a 10x.125 x1.25 piece of rusty old left over mild steel, curfed the ends, bent it around to a circle and got the spot he wanted to weld aligned and clear of slag....then he heated it to a orange and sprinkled borax on it stuck it in his busted up forge...left it get yellow and shiny brought it out and hammered medium to light and repeated the process 2x ...it welded ...we then stuck it in the slack tub which was froze and hoped it didnt "pop" it was maybe 25 degrees outside...he said "its welded but I wouldnt hang from it"....so my conclusion is it dont matter what the temp is except in the forge...it was a propane forgethat is in need of a repair desperatly so also confirms anything I heard from guys "you cant do it with propane" wrong!
