  2. I live in the woods too. I was cutting a tree back in June and the bugger jumped the stump and knocked me right down and pinned me under the tree. I aint a weekend warrior I have cut way many trees. This one had this healthy old buck stuck and in big pain. My wife was on the mower couldnt hear me yellin. Till she glanced over and saw me. I am all hooked up now, forge (propane) anvil the whole shooting match and I could get hurt I must think about this cause I am alone all day. I use safety glasses and the right clothes and have plenty of ventalation but I never thought of what never happens. THX for the heads up. Fat Pete:o
  3. You know if you want to cleen it up ..I learned a little trick is to put a bucket in a bucket and fill it with vineger. I used a drywall bucket and took a plastic plant pot, the plant pot has holes in it so the vineger drains and you lift the cleaned piece out, made a handle out of hanger ...then you put what ever you wanna clean up in the inner bucket and let it sit a couple of days...cheap and it works. FP
  4. I wouldnt try and cut that block. You could end up using all sizes of anvils for all kinds of stuff. should have drove over to Dayton this past weekend you woulda found all you need. You really should find a smith in your area and let him tell ya whats up. Thats how I got started and from what I hear so did almost everyone else....The Carolinas are real active folks and Virginia so you can find tutledge noo problem. I just bought a saw from a guy in Beckley. fp

  7. hi folks I am new to the list and new to blacksmithing. I was "hunting anvils" for months. As cautious* as I am I got tired of looking at used anvils. I live in antique territory in PA and the price of used anvils can be as much as a brand spanking new one. I opted for Nimbus and am waiting delivery as we speak (or write). At least if it aint right there is a warrenty of sorts. cautious* word replaced, meaning kept, site admin
