  1. Thank you for a great idea. SLAG.
  2. Jer,

I read your post on ABANA. Corporate law is a state matter in the U.S.A. Each state has its own statute. Most states have essentially harmonized their statutes, so that they are similar with most other states. This has been adopted to foster and enable commerce between sister states. The same situation applies with each state's unified commercial code. (U.C.C.). For example article 2 covers purchase and sale. (as a matter of interest Canada's corporation act is a federal statute.)

The corporate legislation covers non profit corporations as well. I suspect that ABANA had corporate lawyers. They certainly would have required them for filing their articles of incorporation and also, filing their non profit tax status with the Federal government.

It's a long time ago but if my memory serves me the anvil shoot ukase was a high handed move by some fellows on the ABANA board. Basically power tripping. Many of us saluted them, and left the organization.

And many never rejoined. (me among them).

Among those  were Jock Dempsey, Jim Wilson, and (I think) Glenn Connor and  many others. Great fellows all.

Jer, I was not aware of the distinction of affiliates and associates. I did not come across those concepts writing the New York State bar exams. Nor for the Ontario bar exams. It is entirely possible that other state statues consider those concepts. (corporations being a Federal jurisdiction).

I hope you find the above informative and amusing.

    Regards,

    Dan.

  3. Charles, That is why we have capital punishment for miscreants like that. Yessiree a good fine should put an end to such anti social behavior. Punishing ones capital: works, SLAG.
  4. I did the digging for you at the BA.M. site. There are more coal sellers in the eastern part of the state. But Bryan Lillibridge, (660)-638-4536 1545 NW 300 Urich, MO 64788 is listed as a seller. He is north of you on the way to Kansas City. If that is not convenient, for you, check out the Saltfork smiths in Oklahoma, their coal depot is north of Tulsa Ok., (in Douglas). They sell to members only. But they charge $140 for a ton of coal. (7 cents a pound.). Worth joining? It just occurred to me that northwest Arkansas is near you too. They have a very active group and hold some of their meetings near Fayetteville. SLAG.
  5. Charcold, Welcome to the fraternity I like your user name. Very clever SLAG.
  6. Frosty I believe it is "Why is there air?" and the profound answer is "because". SLAG.
  7. T. P. Ah yes, "the parade of horribles". The "slippery slope" argument for the simple minded. Yes indeed, smoking cannabis inexorably leads to opiate addiction. (heroin even!) By that line of reasoning most of such addicts started out life as imbibers of breast milk (or formula). BAN IT!!! and save humanity forthwith! Now permit me to dismount from my high horse & rejoin humanity. Regards to all. SLAG. Could it be that posting on the internet could be a form of procrastination? Could it, I wonder.
  8. Senor Stevens, & Herr T. P Sugar fermentation with brewers yeast is a much cheaper, simpler, and faster way to produce ethanol. (I. e. drinking alcohol) Messing with nanotechnology is complicated and over my head. No. WAY over my head. The reported process, & catalyst has the potential to use massive amounts of waste carbon dioxide, an air pollutant and agent of global warming. Ethanol can be used as a fuel (which could produce more CO2), but it is an important feedstock for all manner of more complicated organic chemicals. Fear not, Senor Stevens, kids start chemistry by fiddling with substances. Gunpowder manufacturing started me in at 6 years old. They dabble with it, starting quite young T. P. would you please quote the 2 Dequincy aphorisms you allude to. Thank you. Cheers, SLAG.
  9. Just bumped into a very recent article disclosing a new method to turn carbon dioxide "pollution" into valuable ethanol (ethyl alcohol). http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/green-tech/a23417/convert-co2-into-ethanol/ It looks like a wonderful process for pollution control. SLAG.
  10. T. P. The local Feds, (F.B.I. et al), would probably throw me in jail. The research labs usually get super pure reagents that drives up the cost considerably. About a decade ago there was about 14 tons of Czech. Semtex floating around. The late great benefactor Khadafi had bought it and still had much stockpiled for future happy occasions. (he had already generously sold some to the I. R. A. a while before). Maybe Libya has some left, for sale. Always Helpful. SLAG. Semtex is lower quality "C-4".
  11. For Pete's sake! do not get that decoration garment near the forge If it is synthetic the wearer will go up like Jean of arc. You do not want to be the chief entertainment at the family Christmas celebrations. Ever Helpful. SLAG.
  12. I find it strange that R. D. X. should become so expensive. It is the chief ingredient in standard plastic explosives like C-4. It was first discovered in 1895, and patents for it have long since expired. Also composition patents. It was used in W. W. 2 (the latter part), and definitely thereafter. (Korea etc.).It sounds like price manipulation to me. Various R. D.X. compositions were developed in the later half of the war. and C-4 was compounded in 1956. So it is not covered by patent any longer. Neither are any of the C-4 ingredients. Also, the explosive's raw materials are inexpensive. Her supplier is taking her for a ride. Artist sculptors have been using the technique for decades. Some other artists do not resort to molds. I have seen leaves and "other" objects made to leave impressions on metal plate canvases. Moral of the story, get another supplier or if no one else is willing to help, contact a member of most any terrorist groups. (their marketing department). They might help. Just trying to help, SLAG.
  13. Steve, You are absolutely correct. (as per usual.) Average temperature varies with age, gender, ethnicity, time of day , physical condition, medical status and a host of other factors. The reason I was not explicit was that I wrote it in gest. If I had put in all the qualifiers, the humor, or attempt thereof, would have rapidly drained away. SLAG.
  14. J. M. Capital idea. But, I think charcoal is not necessarily pure carbon. There may be a small amount of other mineral in it. Powdered graphite should be pure carbon. This can be substituted for charcoal powder. Powdered graphite is on sale in auto supply stores and costs little. Such a switch should save labor graphite is already powered but charcoal requires grinding. My thoughts, SLAG.
  15. Dear I. F. I. citizens, Some, among us, are hardly normal. And several normalizing sessions have an almost zero chance of achieving normality. I speak with years of experience I personally, have not been normal for decades. How long you ask? Only my hairdresser knows for sure. Sincerely, SLAG.
  16. Senor Stevens, 98.6 F is normal you may want to get it checked Just sayin, SLAG.
  17. Have you contacted the Florida Artist Blacksmith assn.? (F.A.B.A.)? they advertise coal for sale, from time to time in their newsletter "clinker breaker'. SLAG.
  18. Drat!: Wrong again. It's a lovely area. I lived in Hamilton for a while a long time ago. doing research at m.u.m.c. Regards, SLAG.
  19. Dustin, The compliment was well earned. Also, your generosity is appreciated. Ontario is an enormous Province. It takes two long days of hard driving to go from Kingston, on the eastern border,. west to the Manitoba border. (near Winnipeg). I am curious, Where are you located? I will guess the Hamilton- Dundas area. Regards, SLAG.
  20. Mr. Quade, Your Halloween design is magnificent. Does your post permit the I. f. I. group to copy the design royalty free. I am assuming that this is so. But I just wanted to be sure. Regards, SLAG.

    My cousin Bill

Marg and I shall hold Mr. Hicks in our prayers. May he, eternally, rest in peace in the presence of our Lord. SLAG.
  22. Glass drilling is a finicky job. May I suggest that you put a dam of wax or clay around the glass spot where the drill bit will bore and put kerosene lubricant in the well. It cools the bit which gets hot. I surmise that you employed a specialty, glass drill bit, as your "spade bit" Drill slowly and as Frosty suggests, back off the pressure and the drill speed as you near penetration. Drill speed should be slow throughout the procedure. Slow drilling may do the job without having to rap the glass. If necessary, stop drilling just before penetration and use a Dremel-type rotary tool and a small carbide stone head to wear your through the last bit of glass before penetration. Again, go slowly during that procedure. SLAG.
  23. U239 is plutonium. Sorry to be so obscure. U238 is the standard uranium isotope and U235 is the fissionable one. SLAG. and U233 is thorium
