March 1Mar 1 Oh boy! Showed up while I was at a rock and gem show with my youngest and the older one was out getting their hair done and meeting friends. Man that big box was Heavy. Got it up to the shop. Still havnt had a chance to open it. Kmg variable speed 2"x72" grinder. Im excited for the kids to get to bed but they get a movie night tonight.
March 2Mar 2 Debi and I treated ourselves to a 2X72 KMG grinder, when we both retired. I bet you will love it. I can’t control the wind. All I can do is adjust my sails. ~Semper Paratus~ USCG 1964-1970
March 2Mar 2 I get your excitement Aric! Here's how I mounted mine: https://www.fahnoetech.com/the-3-grinder-bench/ --Larry
March 2Mar 2 Thanks Larry. That is a nice well made stand. I have a few spaces I could put mine but they need cleaned up. Or, I might make a pedestal stand so I can move it. I started cleaning and moving some stuff last night.
March 4Mar 4 We mounted ours on one of those Harbor Freight wheeled carts with a shelf below to hold all the extra belt wheels and other stuff that seems to get accumulated. You can see it next to the welder. Here it is with the knife grinding jig Debi built. We have to change the belt pulley groves for different belt speed's. I can’t control the wind. All I can do is adjust my sails. ~Semper Paratus~ USCG 1964-1970
March 4Mar 4 Nice! I Really want one. I thought of trying to build one but between the time it would take and the quality of the manufactured ones I have been saving my change....

March 4Mar 4 Nice Irondragon. I got mine together last night and after playing with it a little I might want to build a jig as well. I am really impressed with the variable speed control. It goes from a slow walk to screaming. Most likely not it's permanent location but it's a spot for now. As I use it more I will probably look into buying the tilt table/rest.

March 7Mar 7 No problem as safety is our paramount concern. That picture was taken just after I removed it from the stand the Hobart welder is on. It was an empty Argon/CO2 tank and on the way to the welding supply shop for a refilled-exchange tank. I was in the process of removing the regulator. Here is where the tanks live when in use. March 15Mar 15 Someone had this set to the curb. I'm not certain what it was used for, but there's lots of good angle iron and pipe.
March 16Mar 16 Yep, I got it home. I ran the picture through Google lens and it gave a lot of answers for "what is this used for" but most were nonsense. One that might be correct was a stand for a large fish tank. But those strips of sheet metal on the bottom don't make sense for that. Whatever it was, I see lots of great materials...
March 17Mar 17 Another addition to the library. I also grabbed my own blacksmith’s roadkill: a couple of beaten-up pieces of square tubing from beside the road at the edge of town; I think they may have been part of a construction sign or something that got run over. As a bonus, the metal parts of a post hole digger were lying in the grass a few feet away, which was a great two-for-one.

March 26Mar 26 He was running a sale a little while back, at the same time I happened to have a few extra bucks from a commission.
March 27Mar 27 I knew there was a sale but I was pretty broke at the time. I should not complain, I've paid huge bucks for conference proceeding books and rare historical books. The thing is, I want to focus on axe making so I knew I'd eventually pop for this one, then my son beat me to it.
