Found these in the bottom of my great-grandfather’s tool chest….

Does anyone have an idea what these are what they were used for?   Thanks.   JMalle

I’ve got an old curtain rod in the basement with round rings just like that. Who knows what those were made for.

Size? Rings like that are used all over the place but for what depends on the size.

Frosty The Lucky.

I thought the same thing at first but Most curtain hanging rings I’ve seen have a hook on em to go through the curtains

I’ve never noticed any that had a loop on a ring

TW - The hooks for curtains are available separately from the rings. Most of the curtains I've hung were that way. If you google images for "old fashioned curtain rings" you get lots of pictures of rings configured like those in the OP.

I wondered about tool crib tags too; any pasteboard disks that would fit in them around their finding location?

Thank you all for your responses.  I see the curtain rod use with the round ones for sure.  The square ones

for tool crib tags make sense.  (no pasteboard disks were found with these in the toolbox).   I'll need to

look up tool crib tags to see what that application looks like.   Now I'm curious about that.     Thanks again.
