Daniel-J
I'm sure when you do them all, it'll be amazing. Every time it's better and better, that's how craftsmanship is born. Good luck to you!
Frosty
Getting better fast Shoshinjoe, you're a talonted fellow. I like this basic opener but I envision the owl's talons holding the bottle cap. One on each side like they were pulling it off. Maybe brushed brass highlights to define feathers or the texture of the talons and beak. There's a world of possibilities with this and I bet they'd sell really well. Frosty The Lucky.
Shabumi
That's a good looking owl Joe, I like the horns. Frosty, I like the way you think. I'll have to try to figure the talons out on my next one. If I ever get back out to the anvil

I have a few locust logs drying. I put them up last summer specifically for making handles with them. I haven't split them into staves yet but they're straight. Hope I don't get surprised by the grain when I split it up. I'll make sure to post how they come out. I'm going to let them dry until at least autumn but most likely next summer. I'll have to check on them. I haven't looked at them since I put them up back in June. Pnut
Shabumi
In my experience of splitting it as firewood, locus has a really straight grain that splits fairly easily for how dense it is. Though the knots can be extremely stubborn if you hit them wrong.
Shabumi
I know I've been lagging on my goal, so here's #13. A request from a friend for an Oroboros triangle. The angle of the picture and the ridges of the tin roofing makes it look less square than it really is.
Frosty
Uh. . . . I THINK more than the corrugated roof is making your TRIANGLE look less square than it really . . . IS? Is this a New Math thing? Nice triangle, I like it. I acknowledge a little bit of odd wording but MAN what a juicy straight line! Thank you for the morning giggles. Frosty The Lucky. Shabumi
Haha, I knew I was leaving myself open, but I couldn't think of another way to describe it. Less triangle doesn't have as good a ring to it. And probably wouldn't ring as well either
Frosty
Surely you didn't mean you squared the round stock a little for the triangle did you? NAH. Don't worry, my brain is on it, has been since I first read it. So long as the legs aren't the same length almost any shape will ring. Hmmmm, "The California, Square Triangle Company"? the motto, "Noting is as dingy as a "California Square Triangle! No easy way around it." Ain't we having fun now? Frosty The Lucky. Shabumi
I squared, octagoned and rounded this triangle, and no matter how I spin it, it always ends up doing a 180 Being a California square, I resemble that remark. But as long as we're on the same level, I'll let it hang
Frosty
Ring one up for being plumb square on target then! Frosty The Lucky.

Frosty
Every morning is a good morning to start with a chuckle. Leave it to a couple California boys to do or say something chucklesome. Frosty The one time Valley Dude.
Cannon Cocker
shabumi this is an awesome idea. I just stumbled upon this thread, or maybe I was tripped by it! Either way I love it and immediately decided to follow!
Shabumi
Thanks. I appreciate the support. It might be a few days for the next instalment. I've got something bigger planned, I just have to get the template right with paper before I put it on metal.
