March 8, 20188 yr The new forge blowers are out there if you recognize them. This one was in the war paint (beauty) section of a department store. 3 speeds, hot or cold air, for $12.99.
March 8, 20188 yr NO, using the HOT setting doesn't help unless you WANT to burn it out quickly. Frosty The Lucky.
March 8, 20188 yr Speaking of the store, do you think an air mattress filler would work as a blower? I was thinkning of picking one up sometime and wanted some expertise information.
March 8, 20188 yr They work a LOT better. I pick them up at yard, garage, etc. sales when I see them. The hard part is finding one in 120v ac. rather than 12v dc. Frosty The Lucky.

Stevens is a particularly strong advocate for the double-acting air mattress pump. Others here have had varying success with electric mattress blowers; check out previous threads for earlier discussions thereof. (Oh, and it's either "expertise" or "expert information".)
March 8, 20188 yr For side blast forges using a 3/4” schedule 40 tuyere I have used both electric and hand pumps with success. The hand pump is quiet and requires no gate valve we’re as the electric is noisy and does require gate valve.
March 8, 20188 yr Ok, thanks for that guys. It seem whenever anyone has some sort of queasy you are the first to help
March 8, 20188 yr Ok Charles, you finally got me onto the hand pump. I've been toying with the idea of setting up a jabod for the fun of it. ( also for possible camping forging. ) just need the pump and a pipe for a camping forge. Also the pump can fill the air mattress I suppose my fine lady won't even question why I brought it muahahah. Anyway, only $7.93 on Amazon. Sweet price for dual purpose use.
March 8, 20188 yr Oh... Now you tell me. Got that taken care of. Changed to the bottom outlet. Costs a little more but still worth it.
March 9, 20188 yr Of course there was the time a friend forgot the inflator for their queen sized air mattress on a campout and we used the hand crank forge blower to fill it----using a duct tape adapter, almost dead quiet, (save for the maniacal laughter), and extremely fast.
