I don't see the anvil, have a pic? No hardy holes on the sides or bottoms of anvils those are almost certainly handling holes though they may be something a company in Mexico, China, or(?) incorporates to imitate a forged anvil in a cheap cast iron piece of junk.

:-) that works.

 

As I said, it weighs 45 lbs. Appears to be cast. I'm thinking steel, not iron. It has a 1/2 inch round hole in the top (smaller end) and an inche square hole on the bottom end so the opening is all the way through.

A tractor weight, eh? That's interesting.

What size are most pritchel and hardy holes? Because I'm wondering it it would be possible to make some type of holder so I can use the hole on top for a pritchel hole then flip it over and use the hole on bottom when I need to use a tool requiring a hardy hole. What I currently am useing as an anvil has neither.
