doggonemess
Greetings all, I was picking around a farmer's dump site (probably from the '50s) and found this metal... thing. It looks almost like a large set of tongs, but the ends don't have pincers, just rusted chunks that look like bolts. For a moment I thought it was the suspension for a wagon seat, but then saw that it slides in the middle. I'm completely stumped. Can anyone give me a guess? Thanks! ThomasPowers
Looks to me like some of the early car roof stuff---back when they had fabric roofs like convertibles and also wooden car bodies. HOWEVER I am not an expert in this area, just dug some out of farmer's scrap piles myself...
BIGGUNDOCTOR
that was my first thought, buggy cover
ianinsa
Maybe he had thoughts about baling manure and that was for picking it up... (sorry I'm clueless on the real use, the buggy roof concept seems plausible though)
doggonemess
Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. Someone on another forum suggested the wheel frame for a baby carriage, but research into that area has produced no matches.
notownkid
I've been involved with a number of carriage/buggy restorations and that really doesn't look large enough to go a Horse draw carriage by the looks (of what I can see) of the "bottom" it would appear to be more like the baby carriage variety and the Pegs sticking out would be for the wheels. I doubt it would have been a buggy part. What is the material?
seldom (dick renker)
I'm inclined to go with the baby buggy frame. It is only half of it, there would be another piece identical for the other side.
ThomasPowers
I'll yield to the baby buggy frame.
