hiltsbilt
Got my new diamondback 2 burner economy forge today!! Man does this thing cook:) So I whipped up a tong rack and hook. Since I made the rack I had to make my first pair of ugly tongs, but the good news is they work:) here are some pics
Hilt and Hammer Workshop
They look pretty darn good for your first pair ! And you made them youself, that is the important part. Congrats on the new forge. It looks like you have a pretty nice setup... the possibilites are endless now !
David Gaddis
Yep...many people here would love to claim those tongs to have been their first set. Me too! carry on
VaughnT
Very nice work. I've been thinking about getting one of their economy forges, but keep putting it off. Excellent all around!
hiltsbilt
tks guys. Vaughn tell you what I don't regret it. I got it because I figured it would be more neighbor friendly then the coal forge I built, and fuel is a little easier to get.

Rhettbarnhart
is the ugly pair hiding behind the nice pair?i dont see any ugly ones,an did u weld the reigns on?
Chinobi
agreed, bang up job on the tongs, but i have to ask, how long are your arms? could just be the cropping making them look infinite, but the reins look like you could use them to grab things from across the room :)
hiltsbilt
ya welded the reigns on there around 22" long total, ill probably shorten them. But they weren't getting in the way at all today so maybe ill leave them. Forged out a couple key chains today out of 3/8", it was fun:)
John B
Better long reins when using a gas forge, the old Dragon's breath can be a little harsh when using shorter reined tongs that are perfectly OK in an open solid fuel hearth.
Jakesshop
Totally agree with John! My Chilie forge throws a whole lot of heat out and long reins really help. For a first set of tongs they are pretty nice. You will always smile when you pick them up as I do when I grab my first set to use.
MOblacksmith0530
Yup long beautiful tongs there. I sometimes use two tongs to remove pieces from the gas forge due to the dragons breath issue. A long handles pair to reach in with and pull them out and a transfer to the tongs used to forge and off you go. Nice leaves by the way.
