Huge Wizard Head Corkscrew

Featured Replies

This is a wizard head that I forged from 1-1/4" square stock.
I did this while at the 2012 ABANA conference in Rapid City,SD. USA. The wizard head was forged under the power hammer that was made by Ken Zitur. I had forgotten about it until recently so I decided I better finish it and make it like the smaller versions I make from 1/2" square stock. Total length is 18"

Wow, that must be for some ginormous bottle of wine!! :) :)

We going to share the bottle around?

Nice work. Keep them coming.

I saw you forging it at ABANA it is very nice.

hey jk :) that looks very groovy so large! - takes on the appearance of a weapon or something on that scale... nice one :)

The biggest bottle of Burgundy or Bordeaux is a Melchior, or 30 liters. That ought to just about fit.

Really nice Jeremy! Okay, fess up, that's not really a cork screw is it, it's to screw into the yard for your dog's leash.

Seriously beautiful work, well done is an understatement.

Frosty The Lucky.

Cool giant cork screw! Great forge on a deadly weapon or a piece of art...

Thanks everyone,
I have located a large cork, now for a large bottle.... I may just have to turn one out of wood the shape of a large wine bottle, and I could also turn out the top so the cork fits in it so it looks more realistic. I'll put my ppl on it. :D

It looks like it would work well to remove the bung from a keg :D

The Great Bungholer is an ill fitting name for a powerful wizard.

Do you wrap the helix around a rod? or twist it up tight and expand ala Hofi style?

Love the big size, there's got to be a big corked jug of something at the BevMo!

I do not wrap around any kind of mandrel while forming the worm on my corkscrews - all hand hammered free hand with a half round swage block.
