Ted T
You have become a "Hands-On" blacksmith over the last while. But to our benefit. You have hit on a "NITCH" that may have no end to what you may create. Very artistic + Good Idea + Fine forging = "A very nice product indeed" :)

MLMartin
Looks good! Any tips of forging? I actually have to make 15-20 little hand before the end of the school year. Mine will be about 3" long and 2" wide and 1/4" thick. They are for my capstone project at school. I am making the "Aten" its an Egyptian god, represented by many hands on the end of sun beams showering down on the people. I tried welding one up the other day out of some flat bar and round bar. Tack welded with mig, then forge welded. Came out ok but still not smooth enough for me. I am thinking about making a top and bottom die to help me true them up, or maybe for the whole shaping process.? Ill post a picture tomorrow
yesteryearforge
It was pretty straight forward traced my hand with a soap stone on a piece of 1/2 " plate Cut it out with an O/A torch Then forged it into shape. I had to let the right hand know what the left hand was doing though. I had a ready reference close at hand :) Could also have used a hot cut but no one was looking so I broke out the smoke wrench. The quill turned out a little screwy ( I may re do it ) The whole thing took about 3 1/2 hours. Probally would have turned out better if I had taken a little time with it. MLMartin
Here is the little hand I am working on. This was just a prototype. The next one will be a little bigger. In the picture there is a 6" ruler for scale
