  1. hheneg, very nice work. JHCC, um, what was your knife doing in a car crusher?
  2. There were several others listed also for mine, but I just had had to share Curmudgeons day, so relevant here.
  3. Thank you. For the most part these days, we in America are all mutts.
  4. Thank you. Well, I suppose every 4 years your birthday could be extra special...or not so much.
  5. A real blacksmith ought to go for branding over ink, you can do all the work yourself! And take the shame or honor all for oneself.
  6. Good for you. May you live long and prosper.
  7. Hello everyone. My birthday was this past Saturday, the 29th of January. The HR rep brought me a history and trivia list for that date. Wouldn't you know it, that day is not only my birthday, but also National Curmudgeon's day. So here's to a belated happy National Curmudgeon's day to all of you curmudgeons!
  8. Was it getting out of the driver or passenger side? I would like to know which side that I should avoid.
  9. We have three raised beds, about 3' x 6', but for the last three seasons we added straw bale planting. It is more versatile in determining different locations for the plants. This year I already know where I will not plant again and have ideas for where to plant more. Also, cattle panels bow up nicely to make trellises over or beside the bales. Only thing is that I have to buy the bales every year but I get a bunch of ground cover/compost from the previous season.
  10. Have you simplified the model number? That is, is there actually more to it? Or add the description/nomenclature. I am coming up with nothing yet.
  11. Seriously, just over a buck a pound. Would you take 250 for it? Quick hundy turnaround for you.
  12. Deli, you don't need to quote when responding to the immediately preceding post. You can find out about that and more here: If you had included the blade's dimensions or had something beside it for a frame of reference, e.g. soda bottle JHCC might have already picked up on the size thing. I agree with the proportion critique. I held my tongue as I have not yet forged a knife to post myself. Given the way the handle is, I feel the sweep of the blade is the wrong way. I would like to see it sweep up rather than down. If you plan on really putting that knife to some hard use the copper is going to get banged up/bent. Thin laminated or inlays with copper are nice but it needs to be backed up by something stronger, IMO. Nevertheless, good job and thanks for showing.
  13. What a story, good people helping animals. We have rescued many cats/kittens. Lost a couple to speeders on the road where we live. I hate speeders, they are unsafe and have no respect or consideration for the safety of the property owners, their families and pets.
  14. Did you use off the shelf parts or did you order replacement parts from the OEM?
  15. I googled this: which grades of steel contain manganese. I saw much information. One of which that stood out is Hadfield steel, or Mangalloy, with up to 13% manganese.
  16. Coal on one side, charcoal on the other.
  17. Just A Box Of Dirt. Many posts on here regarding that. https://www.iforgeiron.com/forum/267-jabod-just-a-box-of-dirt/
  18. Sorry, but that would be 9:21.
