  1. My condolences Charles.
  2. I believe their website says if you pick it up... it's $29 for a 50 pound bag. I'm 4 hours each way to them, so I have it shipped. It is cheaper if you purchase multiple bags for shipping, but you would have to buy A LOT of bags to get it down to $29 per bag shipped. I would drive up there, but that means taking a day off work for me since I believe you can only drive up M-F (I would have to recheck their site, haven't looked at it in a while on that).
  3. According to Google Maps and your location listed here Shark, you are only about 2 hours from Centaur Forge. I currently use coke from them in my JABOD.
  4. The rigidizer you can buy here on IFI should cover 6.26 square feet per pint according to the post by Glenn. As for any other rigidizer, without knowing what you are using, we do cannot really tell you how much it will cover.
  5. Tossed a coupling on the end just to protect threads while I work on the rest... but started a gasser build today.
  6. I too could not dig a hole in the yard. So I followed Charles Mark III. I used cheap unscented kitty litter. Works very well.
  7. Thanks man! I've been anxiously waiting the weekend so that hopefully I get to actually try it out!
  8. If someone doesn't have a drill press, could they use something like this to drill the burners?
  9. I've used the same SN across almost everything online since I started using it back in... 02' in college. It's mostly just habit for me at this point I think.
  10. More excited to get it dirty than worried about keeping it clean!
  11. Coworker is a wood worker. He had a lovely piece of cherry cut off laying around. So he brought over his jig saw this morning and we cut to shape. Very snug. Think it's going to work quite nicely.
  12. I had considered such. Unfortunately my math didn't quite add up right. I bought a single 16' 2x12. My math showed I would only have maybe an inch left after getting 9 pieces cut to length. Turns out I had closer to 2 inches left. I should have had them do two of them with an extra inch!
  13. Depending on where in IL, I would love to take a look at stuff! Just getting started myself so I do not have a ton of gear yet.
  14. So I live about 90 minutes or less from Anvil Brand. Decided to go check out their store Friday since I was on PTO. Came home with their 120lb Legend.
  15. Have to figure out how I'm going to hold it down still. But started a stand this weekend.
  16. I had the battery operated mattress pump from Walmart. It would overheat. I'm now using a super tiny little shop vac instead. Ball valve works wonders for the airflow. Think I maybe spent... $20 or $25 on the shop vac.
  17. If I could afford one... I'd probably buy a Holland myself as everything I've read on here about them has been good. Just a bit out of my price range currently though.
  18. I had heard something a few years ago before I ever got started that there was someone at I think it was an auto body shop that had some open forge times here and there. But could never pin down the exact location or when it was and then life happened and I quit looking for it.
  19. I grew up in Robinson, but I currently live in Decatur. I do try to make it down that way a couple times of year to see the family, so we might be able to meet up at some point in the future. I would 100% advise reading the JABOD forge threads if you want to get started super cheap/easily.
  20. Welcome. You for sure want to read the READ THIS FIRST tab at the top of the threads. Whereabouts in the southern part of IL? I'm located centrally myself and I know there are a few others in the state too.
  21. I have no place to store large amounts of coal/coke either. Which is why I stuck to buying a 50 lb bag from CF. Now, they do offer some discounts on multiple bags. And if I want to make the 4.5ish hour drive up to their location, I can get them even cheaper ($29.99/50lb bag vs $65 after taxes for shipped).
  22. I am using coke I ordered online, yes
  23. My JABOD side blast is running a 3/4" "black pipe" from the box store. I believe 3/4 is the ID on mine as it required a slightly larger than 1" hole to go into the box. I added a cheap-ish ball valve on the end that I hook my blower up to so that I can control the amount of air. I started with a battery operated air mattress pump, but the batteries would get too hot after about 30 minutes and either need swapped out or it had to cool for a few hours. So now I've got a little 2 HP, 1.5 gal shop vac set to blow. Works wonders with the ball valve controlling the air flow.
  24. We do ours pretty simple. Just pepperoni. We have an Ooni pizza oven. I can do wood fired or convert to propane. Cooks a 12 inch pizza in less than 90 seconds. Love it.
