  1. I just made a custom track anvil and welded a snowplow blade on the top for the working surface and 3/8” plate for sides I’ve never seen any like it on google I used it for the first time today and was pleased with how it worked it only cost me 40 bucks to build it and 8 hrs labor I’ll try to put a picture of it on Facebook under Snake Road Forge the anvil ended up weighing 90 lbs
  2. Does anyone know much about these anvils I believe they were imported from England but I’d like to get an idea of how old it is I know the feet are forge welded onto the body it has seen some abuse but has excellent rebound

  5. Had no blueprints had to do everything by memory talked to a few family members to try to get closer to the original layout the actual scale is pretty close looked at some old barns to see how they were framed wish I’d had some concrete dimensions though the build date of the barn and the names of the six carpenters that built the barn were carved into one of the main center beams sadly the carving was lost when the barn was torn down in the late 70s

  18. Thanks for the input looks like your a fairly serious blacksmith looks like the one you have can be belt driven mine has a flywheel but it’s round not flat my handle length is adjustable for speed I believe and higher torque I do have a table shaft but have to fabricate a table I don’t suppose your anywhere near northwest Indiana I’d like to see your shop thanks again
  19. Yea probably won’t use it a lot but it should be a great conversation piece There’s no brand name on it but I do have a 1/2” chuck for it Thanks I have a 1/2” chuck for it still need to make a table but that should be fairly easy
  20. Found this automatic feed hand crank drill press at an antique shop in lower Michigan for 20 bucks it works perfectly and indexes the depth one notch at a time run by an eccentric off the flywheel pretty cool welding Rods my name Valparaiso Indiana
  21. MI have one iron city vise already a 100# 6” in near perfect condition with a very distinct iron city stamping the movable jaw post but this new vise has no such mark so don’t know if it’s an iron city but by the design I’m sure it’s much older than my iron city I’ll send you a pic of the iron city I’ve also picked up a hand powered drill press probably from around 1900 in guessing it works perfectly and has an automatic feed option that’s run off an eccentric by the flywheel here’s the picture
  22. The 44 # post vise I bought at an antique shop in central Indiana for 20 bucks it’s in perfect condition has44 stamped on the face also says east Liverpool in small case letters there are some large case letters above eastliverpool but hard to make out
  23. Thomas thanks for the reply I actually have no certain date for how old this anvil really is I did notice yesterday that the feet did seem to be forge welded separately to the body there are some numbers stamped on the other side 4 0 19 seems to be what is marked hard to tell for sure there are no other markings on this anvil checked the bottom also will send a picture of the other side
