Height, length, width. What'd ya give for it if ya dont mind sayin. And depending on where you're located would determine what's a great buy. Anvil prices can vary widely depending on location.
Nice anvil. Can't help ya on the origins but fishers are good anvils. They have a cast iron body which makes them much quieter than wrought or steel bodied anvils. Any other markings on it? Weight?
Thank you direwolf. This was a basement of an old house. A buddy sent me that picture asking me if I knew what it was. Thank you for solving the mystery lol. I figured with all the knowledgeable people on here it was my best bet to figure it out. My searches were coming up empty
If you want cheap and easy I'd go with a jabod like pnut suggested. Lots of good info on them over in the solid fuel forge section. I built one back in May and still use it today. Good luck and welcome.
You're right Thomas I'm not fond of missing dinner. No the triangle is 1/2 mild. I did try quenching the corners but I didnt notice much difference vs not quenching. Its gotta nice tone though.
To keep our chickens water from freezing we take apart an old lamp to just the light socket. Sit the water bucket on top of a cinder block with the light bulb inside the cinder block.
Yeah it's hard to drive that far and not know for sure what shape it's in. Luckily this was only about 10 minutes from my house and the missing pieces helped me haggle down the price a bit.
Found me a second leg vise. 5 inch jaws. Missing spring and mounting bracket but that's no biggie. Screw and screw box in good shape. With prices around here the way they are I couldn't pass it up for $40. Now just gotta clean it up and make the missing pieces.
