  1. I dont think you could get it going fast enough with a hand crank. Maybe with step pulleys. It is designed to be direct drive motor with love-joy coupling connections.
  2. Cougar anvils that are marketed in Australia are also cast steel Chinese anvils.
  3. Thomas I am sorry if I came off as a jerk....I believe I took your comment out of context. I should have been more clear with my question and your response was the exact answer to my question so I thought you knew exactly what j was talking about. I am truly sorry!!!
  4. Couldn't you have just posted your reply instead of a rude comment first? Seems like it would have been easier and less typing.
  5. Just out of curiosity what about carbon migration in anvil faces with wrought iron body's? You could always use this bar in a multi bar construction like a viking seax. Use it as the spine and use a file or something for the edge.
  6. Yes it is wrought iron. The body and leg is wrought with steel welded on for the jaws.
  7. I know the feeling of having something stolen. 2 years ago a hand gun was stolen from my truck during hunting season along with a knife and a tomahawk I had made. The cops had a hunch of who was breaking into cars so they raided a house and sure enough they recovered the knife and tomahawk but never the gun. 2 years later and I still haven't seen a dime in restitution. I probably should get this 66 lb anvil out of my truck and into the shop under lock and key.
  8. The more I think about this vise I wonder if the screw is wore out like this because of the offset jaws.
  9. The feet dont quite fit the mousehole profile. It's also missing the deep dots between the English hundredweight markings.
  10. There is a box and screw on Ebay right now Just search blacksmith vise and it will come up.
  11. I should have mentioned it looks like the drill bit got broken off and someone tried using a chisel to spin it out
  12. Looks to me someone tried to drill the pritchel hole. It looks like someone tried using a punch to try to spin it back out. As for if it is cast it has handling holes so that is a pretty good indicator of it being forged. As for casting lines it is possible for it to be forged in a closed die which leaves flashing that could look like casting lines.
