  1. Thanks for posting this George. It is a fascinating and educational read. Farriers spend so much time with these animals that they learn them even closer. Like having any animal you are around and handle constantly, you get a feel that others don't. Vets are important, but a farrier will come to know nuances that a vet may not unless they themselves spend a lot of time with them one on one. Good relationship between the two should make for happy, healthy horses I would think. But anyway, thanks again for posting
  2. I'll do that sometimes and think, why didn't you do that before?! But now that it's done, I'm sure you'll be turning them out even faster. Love seeing your updates
  3. That's a great looking eye. You're building up quite the collection of hammers you've forged. I like the tools you've got posted above. Your really cranking out good stuff.
  4. Haha I figured you just misread it. But I'm glad you're always in a good mood!
  5. I think she's referring to the picture you posted of the snow and is asking what altitude your place is sitting at
  6. My biggest dog is like that. She is a Cane Corso ( Italian mastiff) and she tries to take over the little bed that belongs to my doxie. And she can barely fit in it. I don't get it
  7. I agree with irondragon. Be proud of it as you should be
  8. That is a beautiful piece to me Chris. Congratulations on your first forged blade. Keep them coming
  9. We call osage orange, Bois' Darc here. It makes for a very tough handle and turns a beautiful color with a boiled linseed oil rub. It will stain your hands though
  10. No and not easy to cut down either. I have one we started trying to cut and it's still sitting there intact
  11. Too bad! Y'all reckon it could really work? I like Marc1's idea and the one pictured above
  12. Everybody just needs more anvils! I have three and I wouldn't mind them having more friends. This makes me think I may set up the old Vulcan for my little nephew. Or put him on a platform. Thanks, that sparked an idea
  13. Made me chuckle SLAG. I love your sense of humor. But you know, that's an intriguing idea you have. And your absolutely on target as well. It's strange. Growing up, this was a one- horse town where the wasnt much to do or see really. Now it's a hub for things like these wineries and such and farmers markets. There is also a big vendors event held once a month with a lot of high end products. Things have changed so much
  14. That's because horses are awesome like that I like my warmer weather, but a view like Jasen has in that picture can't be beat. Thanks for the ideas Das and pnut. Great minds think alike. We have casinos here. Well, in Oklahoma which I'm only about 30 miles from the state border. But they employ a lot of people from this area including my son.
  15. I wonder if you could outfit it with a barber chair type thing Jack it up with your foot. Would be super convenient. I can't even walk in high heels. I cannot imagine forging in them. Several anvils at different heights would be a stellar answer to that. That being said, mine is set to about the middle of my knuckles and wrist.
  16. Those are really neat Das. I remember you mentioning those before and I had to look them up. Is it a club or a store or something that you made them for? I don't know if there would be a market for those around me. Craft beer, distilleries and wineries are a very trendy in my neck of the woods. I thought about something that would appeal these folks. Bottle openers for sure I would think. Anyway, I like them. Nice clean work
  17. My 40° weather would probably have you in Bermuda shorts Frosty
  18. Jennifer, you should tie yourself up to the horse so maybe you won't blow away Jasen, that's beautiful though
  19. Nice work. I didn't see a picture when I first posted. Thanks for adding that
