  1. Sorry for you loss, I hope someone that needs these tools finds you~
  2. For those of us that like to see large metal take a beating, the first section has one heck of a large punch!
  3. I think so, the cord I have with it is a take down to a 20amp, but the roommates an electrician I just hold things up and wait for a response lol
  4. I must say after the past few days of actual draw filing properly Im upset no one ever taught me the technique before, but I guess as the age of hand tools wains its understandable.
  5. Love that stuff, use it a lot for horse mats, I think it would be nice to have, help deaden the sound a bit
  6. And its horn looks like poopie for lack of a better word~
  7. Thanks for the info Bob, I just spent the last hour fighting everything off of its frame, had to weigh around 200lb with the other motor, elevator legs & gearboxes, secondary supports and frame work. Not too bad to manage but I almost lost a toe yesterday and didnt want to tempt fate twice, shoes or no!
  8. And it may yet become one heh, my main questions are what are the pros/cons of it being DC, will 3hp for a hammer be a waste when a 1 or 2 will work, will it hurt anything to tone down the rpm, I know what brushes ? this is all out of my realm, reading up on brushless dc motors on wiki at the moment.
  9. Just scored this old hospital treadmill, this is her heart: Will it be acceptable for a hammer of some sort? I am void of any motor/hp/rpm knowledge of any kind. I was thinking it would be neat to have the ability to turn the power/rpm of a hammer up or down with the control panel from the treadmill though it might not even be necessary. 4000 RPM 3 Hp Brushless DC motor Thoughts of any kind? what can/could I do with is wonderful new toy!
  10. My Lady is a RMA in a cardiovascular office and let me know on Friday they had an old treadmill they wanted removed, knowing I love ANYTHING free I she said Ill come take it off their hands. Today I opened her up to see what I could salvage, I'm very happy with what I had waiting for me. I love Baldor grinders, they get a TON of abuse at the shoeing school and don't seem to mind one bit! This is a much larger motor but I think I can have lots of fun with it, also have the elevator motor but not sure what to do with that yet. Posting the motor pic/info in the power hammer section for further Q&A that Im sure to have~
  11. Sadly my budget sticks me with walmart cheap-o steel toe, they last ok for $30, I tend to use an insole for comfort. I know shoemakers but I just cannot afford my custom shoes "yet" but its worth the price when they are custom molded to your foot/ankle/leg. When I was cast I found out I seem to be one of the 3% of the population that has equal sized and shaped feet, I had no idea :)
  12. I understand the basics of how this works, the corrosion is drawn to the zinc or aluminum but I thought they needed to be submerged? Teach me Phil, teach me!
  13. Are you using coal? Coke needs the airflow to burn, cutting off the air supply will stop it, but the coal will smolder till its used up. I dont understand how it can keep using fuel if you stop it from breathing. Edit: One of these?
  14. Pig Roast sounds like a great idea, the roommate wants to go anyway. Know of any good hunting areas around Ky or adjoining states? Actually a roast/hammer in sounds like an even better idea~ Start of day 3, only at it for an hour so far, taking the pup to the park while my file soaks in muriatic acid. I was worried at the start about how well the annealing went, but with a fresh file I'm pealing off 1-2 mil bits so that's good, and bad they are getting stuck in the file so I gotta go to the wire brush every 5 min. Almost doubled the width of the bevel, just about equal with the underside edge as well, slow and steady right?
  15. Heheh no worries, we called them fish-lips or a fish-mouth when forming heels on horseshoes but the text in your video said fish mount heheh so I was corn-fused
  16. Nice work and fun video, curious though was that a typo or do you call them fish mounts?
  17. I think that's what he did with his first model
  18. Thanks Brian, wish I could have done more today but I forgot my gloves, Brilliant! see photo 1... but a lot of progress for a 9" file and 2 hours! hahah oh well. I love how precise hand filing can be compared to quick moving high grit belt lol. I also added an instructional pic of how to slowly bring down the blade profile, most here I'm sure know this but for any that didnt here ya go~ Day two, didnt spend as much time with it today, hunting for a larger file. Wondering how far back I want to bring the taper, I kinda like the axe grind on the broad head.
