  1. Great score, although I don't "need" another anvil, I would love to have it in my shop.
  2. The build is still in progress however other obligations/projects keep getting in the way. We managed to get the last layer of ridgidized kaowool installed today for 2 inches total. Next is to coat it with two layers of Satanite for a half inch coating then decide which high alumina kiln shelf that will be sacrificed for the floor.
  3. I would put a small tab on the door to grab with tongs to open it when hot.
  4. Pictures of the blower & vise would help with what to do to get them back in operation. They may not be as rough as you think.
  5. If you don't have a party store near, go to any mechanic shop/garage that does air conditioning work and ask if they would save and let you have an empty freon tank. If you put your location in your profile you might be surprised how many IFI members are close to you and would give you a tank. Shoot I have three of them in my shop right now.
  6. If it were me while doing modifications, I would set the top edge of the rotor flush with the table top, to eliminate the step up and seal up the cooling fins with fire clay..
  7. From the Insulate or not to insulate thread... I cut it with a diamond blade for my skill saw. Make sure to wear a good respirator. Ideally a wet tile saw would be better.

  9. Where the funnel connects to the square box it looks like an opening. I would think closing it up would pull a better draft. Should work though.
  10. Not only that the table will let you ring the firepot with fresh coal so it begins to coke up and you are not raking raw coal into the fire (less smoke).
  11. Another thing that could help you is if you put your location in your profile you may be surprised how many IFI members are close to you and could help you out.
  12. The only problem with trash bags is mice will chew into them (ask me how I know). Mice love charcoal. I would go with 55 gal drums or trash cans.
  13. Saw the flyer and I doubt if we will go either. It will be a good auction for all the other stuff though. http://www.lasswellauctions.com/auction3.htm
  14. When I first built my forge I used a Dayton blower motor. It worked great and had an air gate to control air flow. I switched to a hand crank blower because it gave me greater control and used less coal. http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/hvac/blowers/draft-inducer/shaded-pole-blower-1-25-hp-60-cfm?infoParam.campaignId=T9F&gclid=CJLfkrnv99MCFQkpaQodnR8HFg
  15. We have been to the Ketter Center many times. It's my understanding all of the work is provided by the student's. The College of the Ozarks teaches craft's and the student's work their way through for the tuition. They provide some culinary delights all made by students. https://www.google.com/maps/uv?hl=en&pb=!1s0x87cf0322642c136d%3A0xeab062f178b9c73f!2m19!2m2!1i80!2i80!3m1!2i20!16m13!1b1!2m2!1m1!1e1!2m2!1m1!1e3!2m2!1m1!1e5!2m2!1m1!1e4!3m1!7e115!4shttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.iceportal.com%2Fbrochures%2Fice%2Fbrochure.aspx%3Fdid%3D2813%26brochureid%3D28044%26type%3Dpic!5skeeter center college of the ozarks - Google Search&imagekey=!1e1!2shttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.cfmedia.vfmleonardo.com%2FimageRepo%2F2%2F0%2F47%2F300%2F177%2FLobby_Photo_1_Email_S.jpg&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwixyPTk6vfTAhXoFJoKHWiUAMoQoioInAEwCg
  16. Never had a cover for my slack tub. Might be a good idea if nothing more than to keep the mice from drowning in it.
  17. OK, so the line that runs the full length of the face is a fake thickness line. Never heard of that. Still a good quiet anvil and I'm happy with it. Been hammering hot metal for over 20 years on it without any more damage.
  18. I was going by the bottom of the chip. The line I see is at the 1 inch line. A couple of other pictures, the only marks I find are the logo and number 10 and 43 on the other side.
  19. That vise is a great find. Another followed me home. While at our BOA meeting a member gifted this sink to my wife for a slack tub. Building a stand for it.
  20. I'll try that in the daylight, right by a place where a prior owner had ground a weird radius into the edge (probably trying to fix a chip).
  21. The tool steel face of my 110 lb Vulcan is not paper thin. I just measured it at 3/4 inch.
  22. I would rent a trailer or truck to transport that anvil, if it was too heavy/large to fit into the Fiesta.
