  10. The reason behind this request is I have a work mate who tragically lost his son early this year in a drowning accident and at his funeral they used gum leaves on his coffin, I would like to make one for his parents in his memory out of stainless steel and mark it with his details, and to also make one for the bush fire victims of Victoria and send it down as I think it’s a wonderful idea that they have come up with. As I have mentioned before I am just starting out so not to much experience in smithing, but I do have a couple of questions for you

  11. Diver mike great job on the holders mate they look fantastic ,could I please ask how you got such a great finish on the steel work . thank you
  12. very nice job on the latch fantastic work very even ,could i please ask is the sledge hammer head connected to the chain hold down device ,or is this attached to the under side of the horn to deaden the ringing thanks for the pics.
  13. same here I just have a hevy metal bench i tack weld 25x25 angle brackets to the bench were ever they are required, and spray some spatter guard in the corners and weld away ,flip it over do the same on the reverse side job done. It all depends on how fancy you would like, years ago I made two A frames laid the welding jig on two pieces of pipe tacked welded these to the A frame ,then I was able to rotate the jig 360 deg around which then allowed me to weld both sides up with out removing the gate from the jig until all welds were complete, you just have to make sure you weld in a sequence so it does not twist to much expansion /contraction can be your best friend or your worst enemy Bush bugger:)
  14. G'day guys my name is Peter and live in far north qld Mount isa I have been collecting stuff for years just puting my smithy together, only a bag yard basher and have made a lot of mistakes ,but as some one once said on the site you have to make a pile of shame to get on the wall of fame . There is so much to learn and I have to admit I have also been lurking in the back ground reading and surfing the pics for ideas great web site This is my first post so hope it works out ,cheers guys Bush bugger:D
