  1. Well Dire, I grew up farmmin'......so finally, "something" I have a clue about. I usually just lurk and try to learn here. ( did I mention I just love this site) anyway....glad you took my ribbing as intended. Back in the day of moldboard plowing, 6 bottom was about max around here. other than a few of the "big boys" with the 4 wheel drives pulling 10. But that soon gave way to chisel plows then no-till farming. Thus my interest in smithing.....to learn to sharpen the blacksmith plow shares.....boy, do I have a ways to go. Thanks ... Dave
  2. :P 12 bottom on a M670......gonna need more than liquid.....ha...dave
  3. Hitch pins.....log dogs.....parade flag holders......
  4. About 1 Tbls. per gallon of water will work fine. Remember it is basically a line of sight process. Also ,surface area of sacrificial electrode to part ratio makes a big difference in speed of the cleaning. If you use scrap iron for the sacrificial it will need cleaned fairly often, and will erode eventually. You are only just beginning to be amazed.....Enjoy .......Dave
  5. I kinda like using a spray can of no stick cooking spray...no muss no fuss, and food safe......Dave
  6. Hey Frosty.....just sayin'....washing soda.....table spoon per gallon and......positive to sacrificial electrode..........(dang tree) he he.....dave
  7. DSW... next time ,try adding some more sacrificial electrode to your E-tank. Think, up to, or more, equal surface area(pretty much line of sight). Yes, pressure washing right out of the tank seems to work best, when fresh out of the tank, but a solvent sprayer with water on the end of your air hose will work in a pinch. Wire wheel works well too. And, that clean piece will re-rust immediately , I normally spritz it with phosphoric acid to protect it. Dave
  8. Brian, You should be able to find a few items at the Elnora tractor clubs spring swap meet. Or if you can stand the crowds, Rockville has more yard sales going on this weekend than you can stand...Good luck and happy hammerin'....Dave
  9. yves ,maybe I should have given a little more info on the acid. It basically does the same thing chemicaly that your tank does electricaly..converts red rust to black oxide. It also puts a protective phosphorus coating on your metal. If you get a chance read the link that Stefflus posted above. This is the guy that I learned from.....very informative, also I should mention the acid is pretty mild. You'll find it in the soft drinks you drink every day....yip that's right , coke, pepsi, ect. Check it out I'm tellin' ya....enjoy,Life is good.....Dave
  10. yves....I don't think it's a good idea to put a lid on your tank.....ya know hydrogen gas is emitted during the process. Would it collect enough to cause a problem, I don't know. But with an open top tank ,if you run a propane torch on the foam bubbles they do pop quite loud....just a thought.Has anyone tried phosphoric acid to finish the process? It works real nice, .....Dave
  11. I was lucky enough to see this in person.......Well Done Guys......Thanks.....Dave
  12. Or,,,,you could drive the rollers and let the pipe just ride on them.......Dave
