  1. i would lean to a displacement problem.if you were boiling water or trying to tune a carburator altitude would have an effect.a turbine on a jet works at 30k feet in the air plus displacing air. i can't see why a compressor could not do it if all supply factors are what they should be. not sure
  2. I would comment but won't.Everybody else said it first.
  3. here's my take....if you do'nt like what you do then why do you do it? after all it's supposed to be fun ain't it?
  4. i'm sick also,i too have toolitus and it's terminal .every time i go to an auction i drag more crap home.but it's always something i might need.is that what everybody says?it's like this little tool devil saying c'mon man you need this.i can't resist.
  5. was at auction today and got a milk grate full of hammer heads for 8.00 dollars.blew my mind must weigh 50easy pds and them sum.yes it followed me all the way home, even into the shop.even into me organizing them, ooh.thats all
  6. your work is very interesting,i like it.along with guimard and horta i see some cyril colnik in there too.the diminishing twists are a nice effect.
  7. GPWorks is the name i use for my other business been using it for years.the G is for Gary the P for Pearson the Works is because sometimes it works and so do i.In closing GPLoafs did'nt sound right to me .
  8. here's mine if i had a hammer, if i had an anvil, i would make a big wheel, if i only had some steel, had to answer this and don't know why, now i just hit my finger and i'm gonna cry, so that was my reply, thank you and bye-bye, I think everyone should read more. And carry a notebook.
  9. i already have one but would like to play around with that one a while. with the owners permission of course.what a neat picture
  10. i save mine just in case that might be a new form of currency, not really. i do keep them and when i feel like it like late one nite i weld them together, i know it sounds stupid but its like leggo i have welded them stacked, circular, and in differant arrays, there are 5 on the wall .soon as i get my digi camera back i will show.all are abstract and really mean nothing significant but thats what i do with my drop offs.
  11. really looks good, has a nice forged look to it, she is very lucky to have a friend such as you. i am sure she will like it a lot.
  12. Somebody put something up about which way should you point the horn on the anvil.Heres my question ,what hand do you favor hitting that anvil with?left or right. i stared a lefty but have adapted to a right hand world...
  13. i would use epoxy or 5200 marine adhesive.
  14. i keep one looking left and one looking right but mainly use the left looking one .i am a lefty but work right also.i started keeping one in each direction when my arm got tired so i could switch hands, never could switch hands without missing a hit.a big priority.like most left handers i don't know which way to do anything. which is why i guess i am ambidextrious of sorts.don't know if that was any help .hope so
  15. did you try king metals in Baltimore,MD they have a lot of neat patinas the work really well.i have used several they are nice..
  16. as far as blacksmith i don't know what a person could make, but when you say artist/blacksmith that's where i can tell you what my opinion is.i have a truck repair/welding biz by day.at night ..this sounds real spooky yea?thats when i do the blacksmith/artist thing.i do about 1/3 of what i make with fixing trucks .i make gates, sculpture, furniture, flowers and other goofy things.as far as the work i do it because i like it.some guys fish, some hunt, some have a street rod.this is my deal and its fun.but the best part is if nobody likes what i am doing they should be minding their own biz anyway.
  17. KEEP YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE FUMES/SMOKE..if stick welding blow a fan at yourself.thats what we always did....be safe not sorry.
  18. i am with these other guys ,forget the stairs what if your thirsty or have a sore foot...from running up & down the stairs..imagine having to carry everything up & down.
  19. everything above plus the will to do it all and the skills to pull it off.
  20. i use vineger and peroxide mixed 50/50,mist it on let it dry then keep misting with water or put your project in a trsh bag will start to rust right away but keep it wet.
  21. sounds like your pretty organized Rich, i use a slate blackboard from an old school its 4x7 feet so i can really do some planning,i use it for ideas and other notes but most of the time i do about what alot of other guys do just wing it and sometimes plan it,depends on what i am trying to do.
  22. l-tec 225 mig, tombstone 250 ac/dc lincoln ,hobart 135 mig and 250 ac/dc miller gas rig,and a 40amp plasma.then of course the ol' standby 1 victor and 1 harris oxy/act rig for cutting/brazing or gas welding or if i need to heat up some soup or burn my finger. anyway all vintage and old but in good working order.
  23. Hey! what about spartacus or the gladiator they had showed working smiths,at least they showed the viewers that.they were more likely cooking hot dogs or steak because it was a movie from HollyWood after all.
  24. i have a 4"thick x 16"square hunk of steel , some depressions are milled and some ground with a grinder.but for the cost my deal works better for me because it has what i want on it.the storebought ones are fine if you need those holes and dips.
