New table

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Just finished up a table for a client in NYC. I agonized over a lot of the design elements and in doing so generated several unused parts that will work great for my next project: a display stuff for a clients gallery/show booth. Good thing, all the work has to be done by mid February in order to ship to Europe for a show he's doing in March!

Happy New Year fellow smiths!

John

John,
thank you very much for sharing. Beautiful work.
on a sad note, you show me just how inconsistant I am and something to work towards.

thanks again
paul

That's pretty spectacular John. A little creepy but spectacular none the less.

Frosty

I haven't seen work like that in years. Well at least since Albert Paley shifted gears and quit making jewelry. That is some mighty fine work. Show us some more of what you got.:D

Yessir that is some fine examples of a true artist blacksmith at work. I bow to you sir!

Very nice, very precise, very masculine, almost Gieger-esque.

tzonoqua,
you nailed it on the head - Geiger-esque
something you world see in an Aliens movie. Very cool

Being in NYC I imagine you could make appointments with childproofing consultants and have some fun with that table.

Very nice, very precise, very masculine, almost Gieger-esque.

Good Morning All
Who or what is this Gieger? -tks grant

HR Giger, (pronounced Geeger) Swiss surrealist and creator of the Alien creature from the movie series. He's definitely a huge influence, though I think a lot of the similarities in our work come from our mutual love/obsession with all things Art Nouveau.

Thanks John; that helps. -grant

Sure! Be sure to check out his stuff! It's pretty creepy by most people's standards but his sense of line is truly awe-inspiring.

He actually started his artistic career doing architectural design, including iron railings and such.

Well, I was just about to post pictures of the table I finished up and ouch... you owned me. ill have them up later but geeeezzz, Way to go!

Beautiful stuff! I am truly inspired. One of the things I like about Giger's work (and yours) is the detail and the incredible amount of interesting things to see. I'm struggling with language here, but what I mean is that you could look at your work a hundred times and still be finding new things to appreciate. I love that, and marvel at the incredible amount of time, thought, and work that must have gone into these.
Thanks for sharing them!

Beautifull work! Can i ask how much time did you spent on making the table and what`s the price for this unique work? You dont have to answer if you don`t feel confortable but i was just curiouse :)
Wonderfull work again...

HOLY MACROLE! I had to do a double take because I thought your pics were just renderings, and not actual work! Amazing!

Your vision is amazing. Do you know the result before you start or is it a "progress" kind of thing.
