Ted Ewert
My daughter recently returned from a trip to Croatia. While there, she went to a Stuffed Frog Museum (that's my daughter!). Evidently, some guy spent half his life stuffing frogs and creating little scenes where these frogs replaced people. She showed me the pictures and it's hilarious. School rooms full of these frogs. Anyway, one of the scenes was a smithy. She knew I'd get a kick out of it.
ThomasPowers
Interesting forge--tweaked for wagon tyre use too. Nice stepped anvil base, postvise,...You get the feeling it was based on an actual smithy as the details seem to be location specific, (shape of bellows boards, stepped anvil base, postvise details, etc.) Do you know if all the metal parts were made from metal or were just painted wood? Of course I did wonder if the consumption of frog skin hallucinogens was involved...
Ted Ewert
I would guess painted wood, they're just props. I'll ask my daughter to send me some more pics.
JHCC
The late father of a friend of mine made a vast collection of dioramas using mussel shells and crab claws to form the characters in humorous vignettes. For example:
Ted Ewert
I see that the affliction is not unique to Croatians. Sometimes there's a fine line between humor and a clinical concern.
ThomasPowers
I remember one having been done with stuffed squirrels as well. WAIT Now it hits me! We Could Do It With ANVILS!!!!!!
Ted Ewert
I didn't realize this was a thing. I must have lived a sheltered life. Anvils? That's already been done. Just look at Congress. Daughter sends more lunacy:
ThomasPowers
Hush! I was just about to suggest that people ship me their anvils for use in the Dioramas...
Goods
Reminds me of a seafood restaurant in Morgan City, LA. Along the back wall they had very similar stuffed frog dioramas in display cases. I believe the restaurant closed down a few years ago… I have been down there for at least five years now. David
TWISTEDWILLOW
The forging frogs? Sounds like a new club name, after all the croaking during the monthly meeting they can soak in the slack pond before hopping over to the shop and forging out some gigs to repel enemy reptiles! Daswulf
Those are pretty wild Ted. Thanks for sharing. I was thinking some of what Thomas was thinking with the style of the forge and anvil. The forge almost looks like part of an old coffee grinder the more I look at it.

TWISTEDWILLOW
Lol your probably right JHCC, on another note those scenes kinda reminds me of the books that Brian Jacques wrote were all the characters were animals

Stash
I was looking to see if there was a pair of ribbit tongs on the rack. Steve
