C-1ToolSteel Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Two things (other than the welder) stuck out to me in this picture I came across today. Just me? Quote
Daswulf Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Post vise mount by the top of the gas tank and anvil in the background by the CAT drum. Do I win a prize? Also see some parts to build a few forges from. And a pallet to use as fuel. Let's go build a forge! Quote
BIGGUNDOCTOR Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Yep the vise and the anvil along with some material to make some things Quote
Daswulf Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 I greatly enjoy checking out auction photos to see what's not "shown" but in the background. Once when to an auction and spotted a columbian vise bracket in a barrel of scrap metal by a door in the garage. I was going for it because there was some other good pieces of scrap metal in there too. When the auctioneer got to that barrel I was waiting for the bid to lower a bit and they threw in Everything along the wall as well! I ended up getting it really cheap but had to pass on the 8'x5'high divided bin of bolts on the next wall since I knew I was already over capacity in my little truck at the time. Ended up getting some great stuff in that haul, including the bracket lol. Quote
WayneCoeArtistBlacksmith Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 Daswulf, you could not make a return trip? Quote
Daswulf Posted April 12, 2018 Posted April 12, 2018 That one was a bit far and not enough time as they wanted everything taken that day. otherwise I would have got much more. Quote
Patterson Forge Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 I love auctions, usually stay around to help clean up at the end. This allows me to pick up or trade for unwanted items. "Mystery buckets" full of rusted bolts, fittings, and scrap are usually left behind. I have found axe heads, hammer heads, odd tools, and plenty of antiques in these buckets. Quote
ausfire Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 The anvil is pretty obvious but took me a minute or two to see the vice mount. Nice idea C-1. Let's have some more 'Where's Wally?' pics!! Quote

Daswulf Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Got it covered now. Got an enclosed trailer and my dad got a large trailer that I can fit a car on. Quote
