April 2, 20179 yr You're getting pretty good at that it looks really nice. I'd reverse direction incising the beard and use a sharper chisel. Having the cuts spread as they go down gives the beard a bushier look. You get a good twirl on the mustaches too, but I think the hair texturing should follow the stache. Of course that's just my opinion, I'm full of them you know. Well done, Very. Frosty The Lucky.
April 4, 20179 yr I'd like to set that out on the table at our farm market where I try to sell some of my things. Would not sit for long!!
April 4, 20179 yr Author Thanks guys. I think he's upset because I beat on him for an hour or so Kim Thomas has a great video on making these on you tube that's where I learned the nose from
April 4, 20224 yr Are you talking about the holder that you put in the vise while making them? I believe John from Black Bear Forge has a video on making them IIRC.. Maybe it was Mark A.
April 4, 20224 yr He's asking about the jig used to hold spikes to incise details like nose, eyes, beard, etc. You CAN make the chisel jig thingy from angle iron but it REALLY needs a stop so you don't drive it down through the vise jaws when you hammer. I don't know where mine is, I welded up slips for the vise with the shelf on one half. Not great but it worked. Frosty The Lucky.
