matto Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Some things I found in an old building old Allen wrenches big ones are 1 3/16" and 1 1/8" cute little post drill and I think it is a soldering iron heater?? Quote
swedefiddle Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Good Morning, I have a Bead Roller just like your picture. Works great, even sitting under the bench, gathering Dust Bunnies. Neil Quote
matto Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Ya I am existed to get it cleaned up and start rolling with it. I also what it see if I can make a mini gas forge out of the soldering iron heater. Think it would be kinda fun. Quote
DSW Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Yes that's a gas furnace for real soldering irons. Note that the white "fluffy" stuff inside is probably asbestos, so take appropriate caution. The unit looks to need to be relined anyways. Quote
Frosty Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Contact "Johnson Gas Appliance" company, they're renouned for supporting their product I'd be surprised if you couldn't just a new, a non-asbestos liner kit. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
matto Posted July 15, 2016 Author Posted July 15, 2016 Thanks DSW and Frosty, I was thinking it might be asbestos and will try contacting Johnson gas. Quote
arkie Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 matto, if you have further interest in the Johnson soldering furnace, there's a recent thread over on the weldingweb with info on them. Search "soldering tower". The Johnson heaters are down the page several messages. I refrain from posting links to other forums in respect for Glenn and IFI. Quote

matto Posted July 16, 2016 Author Posted July 16, 2016 Thanks Arkie I will look in to it, Yaggy crazy thing is it was still cold and aged nicely. Arkie neat video on the Johnson. Now I need to get it cleaned up and running. Quote
Frosty Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Ceramic blanket works almost as well as asbestos a layer of kiln wash should do it if Johnson Appliance no longer supports that model and NO they don't use asbestos anymore.. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
matto Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 Frosty that is what my plan was. Should make a fun little forge. Quote
