Frozenforge
Thats a beauty! The block on the base is called an upsetting block.
Nobody Special
Joey Van der Steeg is a good person to ask about German and German style anvils. He doesn't come around here as much as he used to, so you may have to resort to FB to get ahold of him. He also used to post a lot as TechnicusJoe. John McPherson
There were quite a few companies that produced that style of anvil. Foundries would turn out several dozen sizes and shapes for local domestic use as well as export to other countries. Heck, Fisher in New Jersey made the Insonora pattern for the Central & South American market. I do not recognize that particular logo, but it is a classic german pattern, with offshoots still being produced by Hofi, Haberman, Peddinghaus, Refflinghaus, and various Turkish and eastern European makers under other trade names. matei campan
northern-german pattern anvil, in very good condition, big size, who cares about the maker...
Everything Mac
Gorgeous anvil you have there. That must be a very[ rare beast in Canada. As said above it's a classic north German pattern. My own knowledge on German anvils is limited at best, as far as I can tell there were numerous makers in Germany but I have no idea how many. That mark doesn't look anything like the ones I've seen so far sadly. All the best Andy
Shluke
Yep north german style
Everything Mac
Spotted this earlier today and was reminded of your anvil. Looks like HPW in the circle. Your's is rather worn but the profiles match. Cheers Andy

I'm sorry I can't tell you anything about the maker but I think those logo's are close enough to assume it's the same one. Either way it looks like you've got a great anvil. Joe Ringuette
I bought this anvil, and would like to know the maker and other info, value, etc, I bought this in Missouri, U.S. no visible markings, weighs about 100lbs...thank you
ThomasPowers
The value is 12 quantloos; it is on Triskelion right? Asking a value without a location is rather up for grabs. As to maker is there any stamped in or cast proud markings? Does it have handling holes, if so how many and where? Is there an indentation on the bottom of it and if there is what is it's shape? So far I'm leaning toward a Vulcan; what did the ball bearing test give? Can we get a better picture?
the iron dwarf
in what part of the world? some are anvil rich and prices are lower and some are anvil poor and they are higher. size, weight, markings, good pictures of both sides and under the horn and heel and base will help. ball bearing test? Mark Ling
It looks to have a casting line on the base, and I doubt that the face plate isn't that thick, almost looks like an ASO. Do the ball bearing test. Littleblacksmith
EJRailRoadTrack
I saw an anvil EXACTLY like that one a few months ago, it turned out to be a cast iron ASO...
