October 28, 201510 yr I'm having another crack an doing videos. This time a tutorials series for beginners. As ever your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated. Andy
October 28, 201510 yr The audio is not real good and you should provide actual dimensions. I understand that on something like this an experienced smith can just judge things but a beginner needs to know how long a piece of stock they need, how much goes into the eye and how much goes into the rake.
October 29, 201510 yr Looks good. Thanks for sharing. With me being new I agree with the stock deminsions, measurements etc being brought out. I would also try to throw in some terminoligy that one would have picked up by reading how-to material; full face hammer, what angle to the bick to prevent cork screwing, the horn helps drawing because...Looking forward to seeing more.Scott
October 29, 201510 yr I think the "bad audio" is acualy the sound of the gas forge. It isn't bad.a few process isues but the biggest improvement would be to explane each process as in " now we adjust the eye so it dosn' look cockeyed" Otherwise, as a non begainer it was great, love your tinny little workspace and getting to see the man behind the keyboard was great
October 30, 201510 yr Author Cheers for the comments. I've added a note at the beginning of the video to show dimensions of the stock. Thanks Charles. Andy
October 30, 201510 yr Your welcome. Might try pointing before drawing (eiser than pointing a flat) and if you start facing the point of the anvil and use a strait pein (i use a 3# with a half round pein) you will draw out the blade faster. Can't falt the product tho, looks first rate.
October 30, 201510 yr Author Yeah I thought that at the time, I hadn't planned to point it originally but decided to last minute. Annoying really but never mind. CheersAndy
December 13, 201510 yr Author https://youtu.be/G5Y3VgKY0Vk Inability to post proper replies is doing my head in.
December 14, 201510 yr Author That's the idea Francis. I was getting frustrated with the number of beginners on here particularly that are struggling to find ideas for their first projects. It's not aimed at intermediate level smiths or the pro's obviously. The next video will be covering a few more techniques. Cheers
January 8, 201610 yr Just subscribed. Great info for us newbs. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos and sharing your knowledge.
January 9, 201610 yr Good info, Often it is hard to think of the simple things and teach them because they are just things you do and don't have to think about but you are doing a great job. Ed

I'm so sorry it has taken so long to see this reply. MrDarknebula I am very happy to see you've made your own. That really is great! You've made my day. I hope it's serving you well. Things have been ridiculously busy for me recently but I'm hoping to make a new video some time in the next few days. Once things settle down again I can get back to the basics series. All the best Andy
September 6, 20169 yr Author Try as I might I just can't get a reply to the thread to work. This is an addition to episode 5 of my basics video series. A more detailed look at dressing a hammer face. Cheers Andy
September 15, 20169 yr You might consider moving the blow torch to another location in the latest video...LOL Nice work on all the videos. You keep things moving along I like that.
