Frosty
I don't think I can say how much I like those gates without getting gushy. I'm very happy they made gates worthy of the hardware. Gorgeous is just a touch of what I think of those.Frosty
Dogsoldat
Only one thing REALLY wrong with those gates and hardware. Their not on my fence! Beautiful work! A project very well done.
Frank Turley
Giving credit. Shivam O'Brian is the talented woodworker/designer who made the gates. He is a resident of Ireland and a friend of the New Mexico property owner. He flew over with his son to work on the gates. Shivam is the head of something called 'Spirit Horse.' stan
Lovely work Frank, really like the two Suffolk latches you made lots of precise forging in those.
Judson Yaggy
The heavy D ring handle has nice curves. How did you do the wave details on the hinge end? Water jet?
Frank Turley
The heavy D ring handle has nice curves. How did you do the wave details on the hinge end? Water jet?The D ring was bent on the diamond, a booger bear! I used a bending jig found in Schwarzkopf's book* and a rawhide mallet in order to preserve the corners. The water jet scroll finial actually depicts a "Sythian deer head" and was designed by the gate's owner. Look closely and you may see a stamped eye, nostril, and mouth shape on the head.*"Plain and Ornamental Forging"F. T.
