September 10, 201411 yr Does anyone know who makes or sells wire brushes with the flat metal bristles? All I can find locally are the ones with clusters of thin round wire which don't seem to work well moving scale and wear out quick. Looking for one like this.

September 11, 201411 yr Author Blacksmith Depot sells them on line....if shipping doesn't kill you, since there here in US. $59.67 Postage……. I don't know why USA-International postage is always so high.
September 11, 201411 yr Author I see they are made my pferd. I'll see if the Aussie distributor gets them. Although a chinese made one is probably be cheaper. Ebay has them cheap for you guys ebay link removed
September 11, 201411 yr Tdaleh has it, they're called butchers block brushes, hope that helps you in your search.
September 11, 201411 yr FXS, also check you local farrier supply house, they usually carry the same brush.
September 11, 201411 yr If you are going to SOFA, there are a bunch of Minnenites that sold them last year for $17 or $18. And the guy next to them was selling them for a dollar more. Here in Mississippi they were selling for about $26 at the butcher supply. David G Carry on
September 11, 201411 yr Yeah, I want one too, but I have the same problem as FXS. Just try buying a brass brush. And I mean brass not brass coated steel. I have to import mine from the U.S. - a company called Togmar which produces them for ski board riders. Again, the freight is more than the item value. If you find a decent butcher's block brush, let us know.
September 11, 201411 yr Author Well pferd, first said the don't sell them. So I pointed them to the product on the website, they then said sorry only sold in the USA! I then said why is it in your Aussie horse supply catalogue? Ooops our mistake, we can get them from the head office (Germany) $60 ea and you need to order by the box of 12!!! So yes still looking.
September 11, 201411 yr Look up butcher block brush that is what they originaly were That right there. I was paying $15 US for the style of brush you're looking for at the local farrier supply. When they couldn't get any more, I stouced them from a restaurant supply for $9 US. Hard to find them with a handle, but I had plenty of handles on the old brushes, so... :) Yeah, I want one too, but I have the same problem as FXS. Just try buying a brass brush. September 11, 201411 yr 5 minutes searching on the net . Took longer to figure out how to post the URL ( wouldn't let me cut & paste ) then to find http://www.horseshoeshop.com.au/wire-butchers-brush-heavy-p-132.html Http://www.stockmanssupplies.com/BLACKSMITHING/BRUSHES/pl.php Dale Russell
September 12, 201411 yr Author Thanks Dale, but we are still getting ripped at $48.40 (Perth) & $42.79 (QLD) so postage on top. Still too pricey for me. As above they sell under $20 O/S
September 12, 201411 yr If they were selling for as much money here as they seem to be in Oz I'd start manufacturing them and put my kid thru college. Just saying....

David G David I think postage even at that outrageous rate is cheaper than an international flight and the hotels just to buy brush! LOL. :P
