December 16, 201312 yr Hi, I recently moved and lost my flying anvils. I have a foundry nearby. My question is : the mold mix... I lost the formula for the mix. I want to cast new ones. Thanks in advance, -Scott
December 16, 201312 yr Are you talking about casting mini anvils, or larger (over 10 lb). And what kind of metal are you pouring? Do you have the training to handle molten metals of any type? And what is a 'flying anvil'? This should probably be in the foundry/casting section.
December 16, 201312 yr Are you talking about anvils used for anvil shooting? Depends on what kind of casting are you thinking about doing. Green sand? Is your foundry set up with the right equipment and refractory to do a steel pour? Do you have a huge honkin' crucible? One that'll stand up to molten steel/iron? What's your background in casting?
December 16, 201312 yr Why doesnt the local foundry have casting materials is another question for the mix.
December 17, 201312 yr *Not* by casting! We use a vapour deposition process using unobtanium to make a single crystal anvil and then hardened. Then it is laser tuned to the proper note and the entirity of "the Village Blacksmith" is engraved on it *in* *the* *original* *Klingon*!
December 17, 201312 yr One can MAKE an anvil? I always assumed that you went down to the granite quarry, picked out the best one......
December 18, 201312 yr You guys are so 20th century, what's next, paper mache. The top secret skunkworks here have come up with a carbon fibre base and my mum is crochet-ing the top plate from spider webs, it's stronger than steel you know! and environmentally friendly.
December 18, 201312 yr If you use steel wool, can you knit an anvil? cool idea, I shall get the minions working in it.
December 19, 201312 yr Ohhh! Now I get it. So that's why anvils have horns as opposed to antlers, right?
December 22, 201312 yr and you have never used a flying anvil? you know, the kind that fly up and hit your stationsry hammer. I thought everybody hsd one of those!
