Stephen Olivo
There are a couple of smiths in my guild that just enjoy making small mini tongs. Like you said a great way to practice. Nice looking tongs.
WayneCoeArtistBlacksmith
A friend made a pair a few years ago and made them into a belt buckle for the SBA conference auction.

Maillemaker
I've always wanted to make my own mini tongs for weaving maille, but I never seem to remember when I have the forge lit.

Stephen Olivo
mini tongs are just pliers. Anyone else notice this before :D
bigfootnampa
Yes, BUT they can be made stronger or with many types of specialized jaws that are NOT available on commercial pliers! The riveted joints can also be superior to most manufactured plier joints. So... NOT "just pliers" after all!!!
Stephen Olivo
lol I just mean before we started mass producing things pliers and small tongs same thing just hand made.lol so yes just pliers.
royce unruh
specialized pliers none-the-less but pliers all the same :P with me just starting these i have already toyed with the idea of cutting grooves in the jaws and selling them as pliers maybe make some scrolling minis and flatten the tip a little and call them tweezers
Rhettbarnhart
yeah i thought of the pliiers thing too i think they would make a kind of cool item to sell at craft fairs

rustyjunk
I like the idea of practicing on "TINY" tongs or pliers as they are also known. It allows you to run through the steps of making tongs quickly and will help you memorize the steps.
Ironman50
Love the shape of your mini tongs/pliers, have a lot of uses and very convenient to hold and grasp smaller things. Great to make your own tools. -www.sawblade.com

Bob S
mini tongs are just pliers. Anyone else notice this before :D if 'mini' tongs are just pliers are large pliers just tongs? when does a tong become a plier?
Fe-Wood
When you said tiny tongs in the header I thought they would be like these. Tiny! 2 sets are Pewter and 1 set is Aluminum- I haven't riveted them togeher yet because I don't know how to head a copper rivet yet w/o making the tongs inoperable. Stephen Olivo
At the point you call them one :D (bob s.) This just reminds me of the caliper, divider, compass debate. fe-wood Love the little ones. Nice job. In copper it is light soft blows. Think light taps for a long time. Don't try to muscle it in its more like coaxing. Maybe use a spoon instead of a hammer. Just might take some time to do. Your trying to segregate the force to the ends of the copper so the lighter the better.
