July 23, 201213 yr Just a rough little user I forged up last week and decided to finish today. Steel - 52100 OAL - 230 Blade - 110X32X6 Sanded to 600 # and left as is. Crits and comments welcome as always.
July 23, 201213 yr You're rough little users are quite spectacular! Another beautiful piece of work. Thanks for sharing!
July 24, 201213 yr I have to agree w/Thomas. Nice work! You website has some nice looking blades also. John
July 24, 201213 yr Cool stuff on your site. Really like your handle, that stippling is a great idea, assume it improves the grip and also looks great.
July 24, 201213 yr Author Thanks all for the comments, they do keep one motivated. The stippling was to save the knife as I had to burn in the washers for the rivets and they had ugly little black rings around them. Does help with grip though I could have kept the lines a little neater. I personally like the forge finished look though here in SA they don't sell, everyone wants Damascus and shiny with exotic materials. If any one has any tips for drilling perfectly flat holes for washers? Thanks Tim
July 24, 201213 yr Very nice! I wish my "finished" knives were as nice as your "primitive" ones. Thanks for posting. Mitch
July 24, 201213 yr Author Mitch - I am still at the point where I wish my knives were as good as some makers I know - it helps that I have a new friend who makes knives of surpassing quality who drives me to be my best. My knives have improved in the few months I have known him. It also helps that life has taught me to accept constructive criticism with humility and discard that of those who don't care. As the old Baptists say - just keep on keeping on.
July 24, 201213 yr Very nice! Not only the finish, but the design. It flows well. For flat bottomed holes I use a rivet drill: http://www.knifemaking.com/category-s/379.htm
July 24, 201213 yr Author Thanks, didn't know you get that and another supplier to add to my collection.

Thanks Tim G'day Tim, Awsome finish, I use slot drills or end mill cutters for flat holes but you need a good machine vice and no slop in the bench drill bearings. (Or a milling machine :) ) Cheers.
