Sask Mark Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 That's amazing! First class all the way. The amount of heat that had to go into that steel to work it must have been incredible. Quote
Dillon Sculpture Posted February 8, 2012 Author Posted February 8, 2012 Getting close, installation planed for mid March with the dedication at the end of March. Quote
Tim McCoy Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I found this thread way too late - after viewing it twice I know that I will never again complain about how to work the normal sized pieces I try. An excellent tutorial that should be required viewing for first time blacksmiths. Like the larger than life mechanical displays used in the military for weaponry and armoured vehicles that make installation and maintenance of pieces and parts easier; this thread makes something like forging and installing a rivet on regular work look like childs play. And if someone can fuller steel that large how could I have trouble with making a hammer? Well done and thank you for being willing to share Michael! Quote
Dillon Sculpture Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 About to take flight! The bearing housing will be here tomorrow and I'll be able to put this bully together. I still have a rivet detail to put on the bronze and one more small piece to go but you get the idea. I think it is in proportion to the base. Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Ok Michael, I am logged in again so now I will be able to see the photos. Great to talk with you today. Quote
Dillon Sculpture Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Finally got her outside for a flight, 20 mph winds carried it around nicely, real slow and graceful can't wait to get it up in the air! The wing assembly weighs just shy of a ton. Rivets make it a done deal, finished construction on to patina and install. Quote
Dillon Sculpture Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 New video up, some is a bit sketchy but I'm kinda a newbie at this :Dhttp://gallery.me.com/dangerdillon#gallery Quote

Dillon Sculpture Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Loaded, not quite all on the trailer but it makes a great road shark! I'll be beating down the rivet around 11am Tuesday the 20th, should have it up after lunch. Quote
