Glenn Gilmore Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Double sided fireplace with similar doors on each side. Each door weighs approximately 60 lbs. Installed last week, took out old doors and put both sets in. Install took 2.5 hours. 40" h by 60" w Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 25, 2011 Author Posted February 25, 2011 For some reason my font is stuck on 2 and it is hard to see what the heck I typed. Anybody know how to get it set on a larger size? Quote
Iron Clad Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Nice, very nice. Love the trees, great detail. That's one item I haven't produced yet, a fire place door/screen. Hopefully some day... Quote

ThomasPowers Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Glenn, you are running firefox on linux just like I am right? Otherwise what I say about fonts might be completely useless---like asking for engine advice and not telling folks if you had a gas engine or a diesel... For me on the reply panel there is a dropdown menu marked "Sizes" where the tool tip is "Choose a font size". Select the one you want and put your reply between the two bracketed chunks Quote
shoer Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Beautiful work. Did you do the irons also? Quote
doc Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Hi Glenn, Great job as always. I like the method you used connecting most of the smaller limbs, saves alot of cleanup and gives you a better look. By the way that shovel looks familiar The one I have of yours has been doing great service at the coal stove this winter. Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Thank you for the nice comments. My clients were very pleased with the doors and were more pleased when they had a fire going. The shovel and poker are 1 piece and forge welded to the handle. I used 3/4" square for the shovel and poker. For the finish I pop the scale with a torch and wire brush. Brass brush highlights and then waxed with linseed oil, turpentine, and wax mixture. Doc, glad your shovel is working well. Always good to hear how my products are working. Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 26, 2011 Author Posted February 26, 2011 Roughing it after the installation. We picked tangerines off the tree for breakfast and snacks. Can't get much fresher. Cup of joe in the morning. The pool was 92 degrees with city in the background. City lights from the guest house porch. I could use another commission like this one. The clients loved the fireplace doors. Quote
Dillon Sculpture Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 You dog, your like the secrete agent of blacksmithing, great work! Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Hey Danger, eat your heart out. You are right, I am a dog and I can't repeat what David Browne said about you. Quote
Fe-Wood Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Nice work Glenn- Did you make the FP tool holder as well? I love clients like that.... let you enjoy the place after you have done the work.... Quote
Glenn Gilmore Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 Yes, I made the tools and stand to match the doors. I made the hinges and have bronze bushings in them. The doors swing open with one finger control. Quote

Glenn Gilmore Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 Well this year my project is in Missiouri, fireplace doors, railings, and more. Should have photos in the spring. I look out the window where I am staying and I can see elk and buffalo. Almost like home. Quote
