  1. how or what can i do to my rr knifes to keep them from rusting or my old file blades or heck any blades ??? thanks

  8. the only problem would be a lot of dark shading with a huge anvil but let me tell you where i live there is no one with any sort of the tattoo and my next will resemble something of the sort i really like this now were getting into a topic i really enjoy post pics please i need to see the finished work
  9. just a question my grandpa burns coal in the the shop to heat now when i scoop the ashes out they are like chunks of coke as he calls them now once i have a good fire going can i apply these to the forge for fuel??

  12. ok but **** i wouldnt know who made it its all rusty and pitted the piece i was using took forever long to heat and man it was tough
  13. or pump rod to the guys who work in the oil fields i have acess to bunches of this stuff anyone know anything on it it's carbon content or what kinda metal is it ?? thanks was wondering if it was just good for fire pokers or could i use it as a knife blade
  14. started heating and really banging on it the other day with a 4 pounder whewww my bam arm let me know to get a smaller hammer as you know i am a beginner but i got it flattend out enough on the one end and rounded it out looks like ittl be a skinner i'll post up some pics later and hopefully you all can guide me through this one day at a time with ideas and comments Thanks HAPPY EASTER

  17. ya i like the knives and forge the other tools are what you have and if you can make them work then you have made a first big step imma beginner as well but we were all beginners at one point keep up the good work my man PM me some time

  19. hey new guy i used a torn apart sweeper for a blower in my forge it even has a on/off switch it also took a little duct tape to mend some holes but hey it was a freebie and it worked try the local goodwill salvation army or just a thrift store for a old sweeper happy hammering
  20. ok i appreciate the help found this site way after i started making my knifes tried to post up a pic of it for you guys the RR knife was the first thing i ever forged i think it turned out pretty good

  24. i have 3 healthy sized blades at my disposal not sure if i should try stock removal or using the forge ?? kinda lost on this one and are these blades Tool steel high carbon ??? could i use 2 piecies of these blades as well as what other 2 pieces of metal for a damascuss billett ?? or what other common metals could i use that would be laying around for damascuss biletts one more what common scrap heap metals would make good blades??? thanks
