  1. This video link was posted on one of the knife forums I'm on. Pretty cool blacksmithing video of a German smith making some kind of farming/gardening implement. Hope you enjoy as much as I did. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK5QwqXW_BY&t=925s
  2. As I said, mcostello, I've already ordered the glue. I goofed (again) and posted a link to a Youtube video about it and it was removed by a moderator. It's called Tech--Bond Molecular Bonding System. You'll have to do a search if you want to learn about it. I'm not allowed to give you a link to their site. I think it will work great........probably for a lot more things than just this project.
  3. It might have been because there was nothing to reference the size of them. I never imagined they were that large. Beautiful legs for the table, though.
  4. On another one of my frequented forums, a friend was facing almost the exact same dilemma a couple of months ago. This is what he purchased and it's worked perfectly for him. I went ahead and ordered some. Pretty pricey, but I'm sure there will be a lot of things I can use it for. Advertising video removed per TOS.
  5. We've been having pretty much the same temps here in Central OK as you, CGL. It was extremely windy today, so even at 60 degrees it felt pretty cool.
  6. Yup, Thomas, that's a big bellows. First thing I saw in the pile.
  7. Yup, the RTV will stick to the Acrylic.............but it won't stick to the silicone rubber sheet I need to make the gasket out of.
  8. Put some really heavy construction Polyethylene down on top of a piece of smooth plywood laid on top of your stone. Set your stump on a bunch of 1/4-20 nuts (or anything that will elevate it slightly) laid on top of the Poly and pull the sides of the Poly up and staple them to the side of your stump. Leave room somewhere around the perimeter to pour your thinned BLO into the "sack" and wait for it to soak it up.............repeat.............repeat..................repeat until it won't take any more. When you think it's taken all it'll take, turn it over and put an un-thinned coat of BLO on it. That should protect it from any puddles on your flat stone as the weather comes through.
  9. You're a hoot,Thomas. Thomas Powers Applied Anvil Acquisition Technique Thomas Powers Applied Tool Acquisition Technique
  10. I'm needing to glue a silicone gasket to Acrylic. Can't seem to find any adhesive that will do that. Any suggestions?
  11. Talk about "cherry pie and ice cream" all in one pile! What a treasure trove, Thomas. I can see at least 5 or 6 or 7........ no 8 things in that pile of stuff I'd sure like to have sittin' in my shop! Maybe even more! What a find.
  12. One thing I might add.....and it won't cost but a few bucks. Pour yourself a small 6 or 8 inch thick concrete slab that raises your stump a couple of inches above ground level and that will help keep it from wicking water up from the bottom. Besides, the the ground, unless packed really hard will have too much "give" to hold your stump.
  13. Good boy........good family. Ya need a pat on the head.
  14. Would you mind "lending" him to me? I sure need some tools.
  15. If you can find it, a product called Anchor Seal will allow it to dry without cracking. However, I'm not positive it will protect it out of doors. If I were leaving it out of doors, I'd thin down some Boiled Linseed Oil and apply it until it won't take any more. (the idea being to saturate it) Then when it refuses to take any more, I'd apply a full-strength coat of the Boiled Linseed Oil. Beyond that, I don't know what to tell you. There's not really a product designed to make your stump "completely" waterproof in the elements. Good luck though. I'm partial to stump bases myself.
  16. Here ya go, Matt. This might help. Commercial link removed per TOS
  17. Always liked looking at your work, Hans. Glad you are back.
  18. Thanks. Good to be back. Had to take a detour. I'm always prone to detours...........that's how I came to IFI. If there's a merit badge to be had, I'll give it a try.
  19. Sounds good. Wish my shop had a 100% roof, but when it rains it leaks......here and there. Good news though is that I'm gettin' a brand new roof on the house tomorrow. Been saving my pennies for a couple of years for that upgrade. Hope we don't get your rain here in Central, OK.
