  1. My photos on the forum are around 450 KB and they never fail to load.
  2. Glad you posted a pic, Donniev. I've never seen anyone head a rivet in a blind hole. At least I've never done it that way before.
  3. Nothing there to repair. Heat up some steel and start pounding it into shapes you want to create! Don't mess with trying to "repair" anything. You'll likely do more damage than you think you are trying to repair!
  4. I apologize if this sounds like a stupid question, but your rivet blocks are split...........I mean with half the hole on each side, right?
  5. Welcome to the forum, ZBarrett. You are posting in the correct forum. The simple reason you keep getting an error when you try up upload pics is because they are too large. Resize them down 50% and they'll upload just fine. We'd like to see your anvil.
  6. WOW, PWS, that's quite a collection. As I went through all your pictures, I couldn't help thinking "I'd sure like to have that one......and that one........and that one, etc., etc., etc. Lot's of mighty fine old tools. You are fortunate to have all those.
  7. Man, you're on a roll, for sure.
  8. That was really bad, IFC!
  9. Nicholas, without pics, there's not much anyone can do to help answer your questions. We've been having a problem on IFI with picture posting. The problem is (typically) they are too large. Download a program called Infranview and you can easily "half-size" them and then simply drag the half-sized pic to your post...........or you can choose files from your post. Oops! IFC and I posted at the same time.
  10. Used the new "forge porch" today. Works great. It's no big deal, but it lets me get my forge out of the building a little ways.
  11. Indeed..................just like I have a friend who has a fancy heat treat oven!
  12. I know a lot of bladesmiths who provide a sheet of information when they sell a blade. It contains method of making the blade, (forging/removal) type of material by name, Rockwell hardness and handle materials. Those that do that typically use testing equipment such as Jennifer just purchased.
  13. Pretty expensive piece of equipment if purchased new. I would think every serious bladesmith would want one in their shop. Probably the majority don't have one, but if you wanted to sell a blade and "claim" a Rockwell hardness number, I'd think you would want to be able to verify your claim.
  14. Well, I made a little room for my new 2x72 grinder. Sold my 20" Rockwell band saw this morning. Hated to see it go............served me well in my furniture business but I just haven't used it much since retiring in '08. Now I need to move my 8" Crescent/Delta Jointer out of the shop. Got to find a buyer. Need to get some pics for Craigslist. Also made a 4' x 5' "porch" to roll my forge out of the shop onto. That's something I've really been needing.
  15. That would be a definite "NO" for me...........but that's just my opinion. I looked at the original listing to see the edges and there basically are none!
  16. Just figuratively speaking, Glenn, figuratively speaking.
  17. Well, if you want to say you are often a source of "noise" on these forums, that's fine. Just see to it you let me lay blame and title to my own shortcomings, if you don't mind! (you know, I think this sequestration is driving the whole world completely insane..............I'm speaking for myself, of course!)
  18. Well, if that was directed towards me, Thomas I don't understand the inference. Guess I'm just gettin' thick headed in my old(er) age.
  19. Are you suggesting some of us have a lot of un-useful knowledge?????
  20. Humidity? I've never heard of that being a problem. Thanks for the heads-up, IFC. Oh, I got the rack hung after dinner this evening. Think it'll serve me well.
