  1. The ridged pipe cutters are still being made. I use the 3 wheel when I need good square cuts on pipe I will be welding and the 4 wheel cutters in tight places where I can only work from one side of the pipe.
  2. The dog and cat keep a respectful distance from each other when their in the shop until the weather gets bad then the dog lays down beside my chair and the cat lays against him. when the cats in the house and it thunders he gets on a chair under the table, the only time he does that.
  3. CreekSideForge they look great to me, I hope I can get to the skill level to accomplish that one day
  4. Catahoulas were the war Dog and pack animals for the Natches Indians, absolutely fearless, their natural cattle round up, deer and wild hog hunting dogs and extremely protective of their families, but gentle unless provoked. They don’t bark on trail or warn before attacking when needed to protect their families. Max is anyone’s best friend unless an adult shows aggression towards my grandson or his mom
  5. I agree, it’s like it automatically resists a force from the opposite direction
  6. ThomasPowers, i use a product named “Suspend” to control the black widow spiders and all other insects in my shop and around the house. It is safe to use inside the house also. It’s available on the web, the price looks scary, but you put 1 1/2 oz per gallon of water first application then 3/4 oz/gal every 3 months. Mist it on, not wet. The bottle lasts me 3-4 years using for 2 houses and my shop. 1 1/2 gallon of mix will do all 3 inside and out.
  7. My two companions, my youngest daughter found the cat shortly after birth and brought it home it’s eyes had just opened and we had to bottle feed it. She named it Pooh, I call it Crazy, if you were around it you would know why. The dog, Max, is Catahoula/ Lab mix the girls got from the pound for my grandson. Very smart and friendly unless you’re a squirrel or reach towards my grandson My grandson shares everything he eats with him from oranges to cookies, except chocolate Max picks his own blackberries, figs and pecans as they come in season
  8. Frosty, thanks, I’m like you on 3 legged stands. It is so much easier to level them on uneven ground. I find I can work around them easier also. I have all of my jambalaya pots on them and it works great when cooking away from home. I learned about this from my grandmother’s milk stool when I was 5 or 6, it had one leg in the middle and your feet made the other two, it always set level no matter where you set. Blew my mind when I saw it, but I never forgot it.
  9. Drunken Drawf, i followed the directions given by Thomas and Daswulf on 3 anvils I have picked up and I am very pleased with the results.

    Barn Find

Had a chance to work the Canedy Otto blower this weekend. Cleaned up nice inside and out, runs smooth and quiet .
  11. Thanks Jennifer, I have it set up so I can remove the anvil if needed to make adjustments after I use it for a while. I'm going to build up one side for an upsetting block in the future, I don't have any thick plate right now. The blind flange is 1 1/2" thick and I'm planning on adding 2-3 inches for the upsetting block.
  12. I have a piece of 1” flat bar along the inner curves of the base which I peened tight to the anvil so nothing moves
  13. I'm not smart enough to come up with that on my own, I've listened to the advise given here by experienced people, which you are one of. Thanks to all that help us new smiths.
  14. Not yet, I want to use it for a while first in case I need to adjust the height.
  15. I finally had a chance to work on my anvil stand yesterday.12 inch blind flange and 2 inch schedule 40 pipe. The anvil is very quiet
  16. He was referring to the electric burner on his stove top.
  17. I would pull the shaft and look at it to determine if it could be flipped. Pulling the top cover and looking at the shaft, I don't think you would damage anything.
  18. Dave, here is a picture of a 100 year old forge I’m working on the fire pot is 10” long, 9” wide and 4” deep the cut out is 1” deep
  19. The handle is on the opposite side than mine, I wonder if the previous owner put the shaft in backward.

    Universal tong clip

Looks great thanks for sharing it with us
  21. Angiolino, what type of wind speed do you have in the area the fence will be built? The maximum wind speed will make a difference on recommendations Les
  22. Looking forward to meeting you. BTW, the street name for the meeting is misspelled, it is Dickenson not dickerson, I just joined last month, this will be my second meeting with them. Drive safe, it's supposed to be raining.
  23. Lsat, what model is the machine, Thunderbolt, Econo, etc. and how old is it? It will make a difference in the quality and price. From the information you have provided I would not buy it because I could add a little more money and buy a new machine with a warranty. Several of them come as a kit with welding hood. I saw in one of your other posts that you joined LAMA, are you coming the meeting this Saturday? If so, look me up and we can discuss welding and the different types of equipment. Les
  24. Ausfire, Great job, I am envious of your imagination.
