  1. That's hilarious, to me as a gardener, myself. Not so much to them I am betting!
  2. I hear bacon grease is is good. Kind of distorts your vision but no fog.
  3. I shall soon be shed of Nebraska! No offense to any Cornhuskers on here, of course.
  4. I hope you wore a face shield and a kevlar vest. Safety first, you know!
  5. I wonder how many metric tons it takes to crack a black walnut. I used to have a tree and that would have been handy....
  6. A little dish soap on a cloth rubbed on your lenses and then buffed off with a clean cloth when dried will help with, if not eliminate that fogging. Sorry if this has been mentioned b4.
  7. Actually, I think saftey eyeware that hugs your face is the best. Those old glasses were pretty snug fitting and welding gogs clear or tinted with the elastic don't allow any chance of a bb or grit in. I've had a welding sputterball stick to my eye once and it was no fun. Cheap junk safety glasses caused that one. It bounced around under them until if came to rest on my peeper.
  8. Shaded ones would be cool. Torch work and all... Claude Raines invented steam punk.
  9. Well, I did. I had to use a claw hammer as my junk is packed away and my new to me anvil is sitting on the basement floor waiting to be moved cross country. I guess it's the thought that counts. It's the first time I ever hit a real anvil actually. It's hard to lose a friend. Scott.
  10. I find a tire iron to be a ubiquitous and versatile "tool".
  11. Perfect timing.... I can see he has a lot of heart! Very nice, Rojo. Scott
  12. Well, Twigg, I'll take a stab at helping you. First off, I have no experience as far as the newer make/models of lathes that you mentioned other than a passing interest several years ago, but I believe they would do what you desire. With much less frustration than would come with one of the older units. I used to rebuild smaller Craftsman, Atlas, Southbend and other lathes for a hobby, but they can be a pain. Some of them are crazy small, to the point of being "cute". I do know with the newer ones you can buy any attachment or accessories your heart may desire. If you don't make them yourself. A machine tool can open up new possibilities but beware: It can be as addicting as blacksmithing if you are not vigilant!
  13. How far does your bucket move when it hits a snag? I was just wondering about the movement of your lever... Here's what I meant. There's more than one way to skin a cat. The one that works best is best
  14. An adjustable skid (kind of like on a snowblower) on each side of the bucket would help with gliding over pesky cracks and obstacles. I'd hate to hit uneven concrete with that!
  15. That's not his home, but I wouldn't put it past him. Whoever does own it will enjoy it every day. Or night as the case may be. Beautiful work!
  16. Georgia? I wonder if my brother down yonder commissioned that from you... He's pretty tightlipped so I will never know unless I visit him. He has good taste!
  17. Stories like this are just the tip of the iceberg. I suppose they have always been out there. Only now they all have a camera/recorder in pocket and purse to document their exploits and derring-do! Scott.
  18. But then again, I've had desk jockey supervisors with dainty hands so that may not be an option! Sorry.
  19. I find it hard to believe in this day and age an employer would expect an employee to figure such a thing out on their own. You should not have to ask on an internet forum.... Were it me, I would ask my supervisor to demonstrate it.
  20. My Lincoln Electric produces an eye opening blast every now and then if you aren't careful. Bad ground or something, Idk.
  21. I have fallen for the old hand crank antique phone magneto trick. Once. "Here, hold onto these two lead weights for a minute. What? Never mind what the wires are for...."
  22. Kind of like getting zapped by a leaky spark plug wire. Yeow. This all positively shocking!
  23. Perfect! Though, I called it a few other names I can't mention here as I was working on it.
  24. Lol... Thanks Das. It started out as a scarecrow before it all fell apart. Funny you mention horror movies, I was watching "Man Made Monster" on tv last night and the plot was a scientist that gets a guy hooked on jolts of electricity. I'm not making it up! Thomas, dont ever get caught up in one. I'm tempted to post a picture of the one I had around my old corn patch. Went round and round..
