  1. Tried some hearts the last couple nights. Here are some of the better ones with a couple horse heads I left for dead a few weeks ago. I'm really trying for perfection and though not there yet, stay tuned . Dick
  2. Ok, I'm going to go with hydraulic on this frame. I don't know what the rated strength was as a fly press but I think it can take 25 ton of force without any problem. I've called around locally for a used cylinder but haven't had any luck. Before I go to Northern Tool etc. I thought I'd ask if anyone has a 6" diameter 8-10" stroke cylinder they want to sell. Like it to have an 1 1/2" diameter ram or larger.Cylinder could be larger I'll just throttle down the pressure. If it needs seals I can do that work too. Thanks for any help you can provide, Dick
  3. Great photos Sam ! Bet the hand wheel in the last photo is handy on that post vise. Dick
  4. You can get 1095 in .032 thk. here at Mc Master Carr http://www.mcmaster.com/#spring-tempered-steel-sheets/=81t22g Dick
  5. That was my first thought. I have ability to make the tooling . I guess I was wondering if it would also be a good base for a mechanical guided way hammer. Thanks for the response, Dick
  6. Got a call from a friend asking if I wanted a very heavy press frame with the gibs and block but no screw. I jumped in the truck and drove over to see it. Very big and HEAVY. I think it is in the order of 1000-1200 lbs. My F 150 squatted when we set it in and it didn't move around at all coming home :)Couldn't let it go to scrap so now I need to figure out what to do with it. I have a flypress already so maybe a start for a power hammer design. Confined by the sides but still could do a lot of work for specific tasks. What would you do with it? Dick

  9. Lyle, Great job on the rings. Real clean detail ! I've done a few iron ones since Memphis but haven't refined my punches and chisels yet to get the detail. Again great jewelry, your going to pass up Brian if he's not careful Thanks for sharing these ! Dick

  12. Hi Harley, I've got one I borrowed from my brother to try out. Haven't used it yet but I'm not that far away from you if you would like to meet up one evening or weekend.I've watched them used cutting 1" plate and welding 19 guage aluminum but in the hands of an experienced user. Dick
  13. Wish I was living in the south, I'd be at every event Brian and LDW were putting together! These two just don't stop helping. Dick
  14. Just got back last night from my trip to ABANA and then on to Arkansas. While at ABANA I had a great time.Got to meet a few of you and work with Gerald Boggs,Mark Aspery , Brian Brazeal and Lyle (LDW). Was truly a learning experience.Gerald and Mark were supporting the green coal tent and Brian was running a dawn till dusk demo station with his own equipment under the trees. Then did demos under the tent as well. Thank you all for your help and instruction ! It was really good to see the different types of power hammers being used and to talk with the folks using them. Back to reality now, heading for work.... Dick
  15. Yes it is, not a mark on it. I look forward to trying it out. I hadn't search out the manufacturer yet, thanks Mark and Sam for the info. Dick
  16. I found this one on the CT Craigslist last year. Haven't put together a stand for it yet I currently use a 160 lbs. Peter Wright. Those are the only markings on it. Got it from a real fair guy who deals in military surplus items. It was in a lot with a bunch of Snap on tool sets. Dick
