  2. HI Jon, I'm south of you on the CT. border. I'm just a hobby smith and want to retire into doing more when that comes to be. Mostly blade smithing and simple ornamental right now. The New England Blacksmiths is a great group /source of information and contacts for not much money. You will find there are a lot of folks in your area. http://www.newenglandblacksmiths.org/ Welcome to IFI Dick
  3. Nice looking cut off tool! Just a guess but the impressions around the base might be from Axle spline if that is what it was made from. Dick
  4. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. Dick
  5. Rich and Steve , thanks for taking the time to help ! While I was only able to look in a couple times I did try different things you talked about with fair results. Time has been very limited for me due to work and family but I'm hoping to see it open up a little this year. Here are some pictures of finishing a couple forged blades I have made since the interest has bit me. Some cable Damascus and some forged and filed. No knife grinder yet so its all file work and hand hand grinder but I enjoy doing it. Also got out the rifflers and added embellishments to the spine of a couple of them. Dick
  6. Very Nice ! Thanks for sharing the step by step progression. All the pieces in the photos show the care and attention to detail you have disciplined yourself to retain. Dick
  7. Thoughts and prayers for a speedy and full recovery! Dick
