Hi Robb,
I'm in MA. but I'm sure there are blacksmiths around you. Consider the New England Blacksmiths membership, it has lots of smiths who are willing to help. http://www.newenglandblacksmiths.org/

Stay strong, you have many friends here that care.

Nice job on the blades ! Looks like a good time was had by all. The fortress looks like a great working museum. I hope to get back up that way next spring / summer. My wife and I did several motorcycle vacations up to and around Cape Breton.

Thanks John,
I enjoy doing braids of all kinds and will surely give this one a try next time I get some forge time. I think I've got it. At this point I need to try it to have more questions

John,
That is a great collection of handles. Could you explain the process of the handle in the 11th photo. It appears to have 4 rods at the blade but I cant see how two of them are terminated. Just want to be sure I understand it.
Thank you,
Dick
I must be from the dark side, I think it looks great I might have even added some file work to the backbone but it isn't needed. Some fine work ,both fit and finish!
Really nice lines to it.
Dick
Glenn ,
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I can't imagine the saddness involved in such a loss.
Peace of our lord be with you and your family.
