Maybe a Collectors Item? $5 a pound
mlinn77 replied to stockmaker's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
Looks like someone went to eBay for there price, it's broken and not a top name pass on it unless he wants to give it to you. -
Is there something wrong with my anvil?
mlinn77 replied to Lars92's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
This is a good gauge on Anvifire. -
Mine says Yost I don't see any Yost like it but it looks a lot like those Prentiss vises, looks like it can be very handy please stop reposting obvious, the large pics waste bandwidth, and most of our members pay ber Kb not per month, and its wasting my time having to delete them

A slide hammer is on the list of things to try.
-
Haven't tried the hot, cold method yet, I have tried just heat, right now it's soaking, I'll give some more patients then I'll look into drilling the knob was pretty boogered up before I got it.
-
Do you know if that pin is spring loaded, or how it doesn't come out with you pull it, it's really suck I'm trying to look at my options on how to move it. It's soaking in penetrating oil now.

See the slope heading towards the handle
-
I noticed that too, the jaws have a design and flow to them like a post vise
-
The vise has to be close to 100 lbs alone, $150 for the anvil $70 for the vise
-
Interesting, I'll have to check out out again to see if I can free it up
-
Paid 220 including a 120 lb Colombian anvil that's in decent shape. The vise was apart and wouldn't swivel a little heat, patience and grease works like new.

Hi, I picked up this Yost vise it's 6" opens to 10" I got everything working has a broken mounting bracket. I've heard of Yost I can't find anything on dating or on this model # it's a 78, and I was curious on what that knob on the back is for looks like some sort of gig hooks to it. Any info would be appreciated thank you.

That's a fair price, If it still has good rebound and you have the cash I would get it, you don't trip over big arm and hammers everyday and they make a good Anvil
-
Kenny1960 What's your location? I have some good users in the Delmarva area of PA I'm selling for $2.5-3/lbs, ranging from 130-292lbs
-
I saw that today, Glad it went to a good home, I was thinking about getting it. Decent price, edges look, pits look bad but shouldn't affect the usage.
-
The 710lbs H beam on eBay right. Unless they changed much in the past 30 years my dad was I ironworker and said they were like butter they used to knock the corners in with a spud wrench. And for $710+ s/h from PA to CA I believe it's too much you could get a decent Anvil or load up at a scrap yard to build the multi teir Anvil mentioned. In case you don't post pictures it's listed all over craigslist on the east coast, blt, phl, de, nj.

65 pound Arm & Hammer Anvil Date
mlinn77 replied to smfg_mendo's topic in Anvils, Swage Blocks, and Mandrels
I have a 97 lbs arm and hammer on a oak stump with the feet strapped it seems to be fine for light duty work, never went to town on it though. -
65 pound Arm & Hammer Anvil Date

That's a sweet little anvil -
Thank you. It could've been hot pink with a face like that it was going in my truck.
-
I was told it was repainted, it looked fresh.
-
$400 for the Anvil, a little more then I usually spend but couldn't pass it up in that condition, that's a Fisher #5 vise. I'll PM you some pictures just so don't jam up the soderfors thread
-
Hi, Wanted to share my newly acquired soderfors 101 lbs 1929, I've been wanting one but couldn't find a clean one in my budget till this came along.

My dad always said it's only worth what someone will pay. If your just a straight up collector money is secondary, size and logo is 1st, that's probably the 2nd or 3rd biggest arm and hammer found. I think it's overpriced at 4g for a user, I'd buy it at $2500 but I'm cheap and I don't like the tourch/stinger marks even though they are small and probably irrelevant. I do suffer from Anvil envy but I completely agree with size being overkill. Probably not the right place for this but since it was mentioned, unless the 2nd bidder bought it at the price he bid or we know what that 630 HB actually sold for its hard to use that as the "bar". The 2nd bidder had a chance to buy it now cheaper then his 2nd place bid so his original high bid is out the window, understand I'm not saying he wouldn't of paid if he won, but I know I got caught up in the action and felt relieved when I got outbid.

Ok thank you, I was guessing early to mid 1800's too, I wasn't sure if the bronze Bell was a tip off. I've said it before but I'll say it again, the English made a stylish vise.
-
Hi my dad picked up this old leg vise, I know figuring out a maker is hard to narrow down, and there isn't any markings, but the bronze bell is different from what I've seen, it looks old English, any guesses on the age?
