human fireball?
A few years ago, I was welding the drum on a cement truck at work, from the inside:(. The sleeve of my coveralls caught fire (fire resistant my ***) and I didn't notice for a bit I guess. The flame spread almost to my shoulder before I realised and put it out, it was not cool!! Plus other small leg fires and such over time, but nothing major. Adam

To glove or not to glove, a poll
I only wear a glove on my holding hand when smithing. I find I loose some hammer control if I use one on my hammer hand. Now if only I could find someone selling bags of left handed gloves:rolleyes: Adam

Charcoal for Blacksmithing
I use the Royal Oak when I do use charcoal. I agree with the price, get mine from Walmart too, but at the end of season, its like $3. It works out cheaper even at $5 a bag cause I too have to ship in coal. Adam

Distance from the house
Mines about 60' to the shop, 200+' to the closest neighbor. Never any complaints. Adam

Corn Dryer???
Thanks again Brian. I planned on doing the slitting hot, never thought about doing it cold. I was thinking of using the 1/4 X 1 because I have a bunch here. Do you think its too heavy? Adam

Corn Dryer???
Thanks Brian. I think maybe I'll try some tomorrow, they want 6 of them. Might take some scrap ones to get it right tho. I was thinking some 1/4" X 1" flat bar, do you think it would be heavy enough? Adam

Corn Dryer???
Hi guys, looking for some help. I was just asked me about making some anitques type corn dryers for someone. :confused:I'm not sure how to go about it. I'm thinking just some flat bar slit then forged out into the spikes. Could someone please give me some advice? Pictures attached. I'm sure it's simple, but I want to have an idea first. Thanks in advance.

Dave's demo trailer
Congrats on the first fire!!! It looks great. Like Frosty said, are you putting up a wind screen? I know everytime I burn coal outside, I put something up to keep the smoke and flames from getting blown around too much, namely in my face. Anyway, looks good and I bet you can't wait to get to demo from it now:) Adam
