  1. Good for you! You got started and that's the main thing. Now you're gonna be hooked, snatching up all the tools and scrap metal you can get your hands on:D And if you can post pics, it would be great, we all LOVE pictures:) Adam
  2. Looks pretty good for getting started!! And I like your forge too! Just keep practicing, time at the anvil is the best way to learn, IMO. Adam
  3. I built my own aswell. If you have access to materials and tools, I would recomend it. It is a great way to learn. I think I spent between $150 and $200 on mine by the time I was done. It is a small single burner, but it works great and I can weld in it no problem. Just something to consider. Adam
  4. Welcome to the site!! Great to have you aboard! As Frosty said, we'll be looking forward to the pictures, we all LOVE pictures:D Adam
  5. Funny you should bring this up, I was just cleaning out my toolbox at work yesterday. I came across some custom bent and welded wrenches. It took me some time to remember what I bent them for in the first place. Don't think I'll ever use them again either. Adam
  6. They look pretty good to me. And functionality is key, looks will come with practice. Adam
  7. That is amazing!! Great work, keep it up and keep posting pics:) Adam

  11. Congrats!!! Feels great to finish your first real project doesn't it?? I was just as excited when I finished my first piece. The best way to improve is practice, practice, practice! And if you can get pics, I'm sure everyone would love to see em. Adam

  13. That's a good looking shop. Thanks for the pics!
  14. I agree with the above several statements! I have welded (diesel) fuel tanks at work many times without any problems. I don't like to do it, but I have to. But like Frosty said, there was a welder near me that was my friend's Grandfather. He had welded hundreds of fuel tanks and one day one went "BOOM" and he was in the hospital for 6 months. He barely survived. I also would not try to describe how to do something that could potentially kill someone as I wouldn't want the legal or moral responsibility. Adam
  15. Tom, do you ever cross the border in Detroit? If so, I'm right there and just happen to work at the Freightliner dealer in Windsor:D
