  1. Cool! That's nice! What's your next move, ID? Get a stump, building a stand or...? Bests: g
  2. Excellent idea, Thomas! Thank you. I even have a spare forge blower I can use. Thanks again!
  3. I could imagine a T-shirt with the "In rust we trust" writing on it Of course I read this motto somewhere here, sometimes earlier... OK, I just found the T-shirt!!! Mail is being sent to Glenn!
  4. Wow, Judson! Awesome works you done there! And those fake hinges are really cool I spent the work day with procrastinating: instead of finishing a commissioned french easel I continued the work on the parang inspired by Templehound. Got the forging and pre-grinding done, now I have to find out how to heat treat it. I have a forge wich allows me to heat up max 1'/30 cm long stock if I move the stock back and forth. This blade is twice as long so gotta find another way... In the picture there is the bearing similar to the starting stock. Bests: Gergely
  5. Great anvil, ID! Congrats! My guess on the weight is also around the 440lbs/200kg range. You'll have a lot of fun with the two big hardy holes - lots of opportunities Bests: Gergely
  6. My limited experience on this subject says that these rods don't worth the trouble. You can easily find nice axles in different sizes at scrap yards or do what Glenn said: sell them and buy some known stock. I'm a scrap digger myself, but in the beginning you have more chance to success with the known stuff. And yeah, in rust we trust - is the #1 scrap yard rule. Shiny means you have to know more... or leave it... Bests: Gergely
  7. Rashelle and James, I'm really proud to know you both! Congratulations on the work you did. I hope I can catch the show sometimes when they air it here. And congrats on the winning, James! Best of luck to you: Gergely
  8. You're the best! Well, I did take a shot at the parang yesterday evening Much work to do yet... It was real fun to work with, thank you for the isnpiration! I used bearing steel, too, but scrap... Bests: Gergely
  9. A friend and mentor of mine made this tutorial video about forging a javelin head. Starting stock was 20x20 mm 1045/C45 Enjoy and share your opinion! Bests: Gergely
  10. Very nice work, 58er! And yours has just given me an idea - this timber beam shelf form is cool and versatile... Thanks and bests: g
  11. Beautiful work, Templehound! Your blades always represent a very high level of aesthetics and somehow "push my buttons". This time I can feel the physical ache for making a parang of my own. (Not sure that's gonna happen ) And that sheath is awesome, too! Bests: Gergely
  12. Exactly the picture searches got me confused I understand (I think so) what you wrote, then I ind pictures like this: Using your keywords gave me some more understandable pictures, like this: Maybe my confusion roots in the word trailer, which I think looks like this: Anyway, this concept is clearly something we don't have here. A bit heavy to wrap my mind around it But nevermind! And thank you for the help. Sometimes the keywords of search are the most difficult to find when looking for foreign language terms. And back to the topic: while working hard on Monday and Tuesday I must have inhaled something nasty - don't know what or when. I feel burning pain in my chest, not very hard but still. Checked by the doc and taken X-rays and it looks ok. Still I don't want to stretch it more, because I have to go to the weekends fair. Hopefully getting better til then. I'd say it's irritating when I'm being stupid, but in this case I don't recall doing anything like that... Bests: Gergely
  13. Nice work, and good looking piece of wood! Can you guys help me with the language?: I have searched for the word 'doublewide' for couple of times, but I'm really not sure about its meaning. Is it a trailer of some sort or a type of house? (Or both, or neither... ) Thanks a lot! Bests: Gergely
  14. Hi Digger, That is a beautiful anvil in very good condition, congratulations to have it! Don't bother with the maker or the price. It's yours now, you own a luxury anvil which is going to perform well in every possible tasks you can make up for it. Use it long and happyly! Bests: Gergely
  15. I thought that could be misleading , but was too lazy to check Aspery's book for the correct name.
  16. My research field was the Northern Saami language, so I saw a big bunch of texts written in Swedish and Norvegian. But never came close to understand any spoken Scandinavian language. That's why the surprise while listening to your vid I like Muzsikás, too, but I more often listen to Hedningarna! That's a real good looking birdy! Keep on the good work! Bests to you: Gergely
  17. Wow, Mark! Congratulations! That's a very remarkable () fair display and income. I've wanted that sort of grey timber board you use for vertical display for a long time. Did you find the wood for it or have you treated it somehow to that colour? Also that PW knife is awesome! Bests: Gergely
  18. Need to get more vertical in the shop. I change a big bench for this smaller and more practical one. The crate goes into the bottom part. All scrap raw materials. Tried to make a corkscrew just to see if I'm capable to make one. It took long enough, but hopefully that's gonna change As the design, too. Stock was car coil spring.
  19. Some agricultural work, bending blades for a machine. Tooling was needed for the job. The 24 pcs of blades bent to shape. Bender jig: Bending fork, the inner stem should have be made of sturdier stock. It's coil spring welded on other tool steel handle, so it held up well though. And a cutter helper for the flower commission. The client cuts out the raw material with hand held plasma cutter. Bests: Gergely
  20. Hi and welcome! What VaughnT said if you want to do it on your own. If I were you I tried to look around and find a shop that has a roller. I don't think they charge that much for a simple roll. Bests: Gergely
  21. Have to run now, but any questions you got I try and answer it Mild steel pieces as cleaning medium, also soap and water added: Motor specs: small, 3 phase motor, 1350 rpm. Slower would be better, but it works Bests: Gergely
  22. I take some pictures in the morning. And yes!: Tumbler is the word, I can't get how some words just fall off my head! Exactly! It's a wide 16" dia tire with rubber-like front and back walls to deaden the noise the tumbler makes. Funnily it's still very loud because of the other moving parts. As for today's shop time: A sheperd's axe variation (or a small war axe if you will ): Four flowers of the 90 pcs commission: Textured and bent flat stock for the same fence: Half done nail hook coat hanger. Now I know I have to make another back plate for it. Bests: Gergely
