  1. Great selection of fuel there, its just the volume you need As for the dump and burns, well not near my house, I like it quiet! I do like seeing them at the Aircraft Museum at Temora where they often do a run.
  2. Welcome to IFI Carl, another Banana Bender!! You are off to a good, and inventive, start but have a look at the Getting Started articles off the front page then get into the Blueprints. That should keep you occupied for the next few weeks then practice, practice, practice. What type of charcoal are you using, not BBQ stuff I hope. Either make your own charcoal or try to get some coal for a better result. Cheers
  3. Welcome to IFI Malcolm You have definitely come to the right place. Start on the front page with the Getting Started articles then progress to the Blueprints and read, read, read then practice, practice, practice.
  4. Welcome to the site. No ribbing to come, if you are a stock removal type of person then that is how it is. You will get lots of help here on the heat treating you will need.
  5. Too much air will do it all the time. The blower should have an air valve or be controllable so you can reduce the air. Otherwise, heat one thing at a time and don't take your eyes off it!!
  6. We had a great day today. My eldest son and I spent quite a while at the forge and he turned up a primitive knife which turned out fairly well. He is really please and he should be, its a good job for a bloke that in not quite 12 yet. We made it out of 3/8 mild steel rod so he could get the feel before we go to higher carbon steel. :D:D Tomorrow with the little fella.
  7. Welcome to IF Rayal. Lots of Banana Benders on this site now :)

  9. Sounds like the wash tub is in your future. Welcome to IFI :)
  10. Yes you can BUT why? It would be more efficient and easier to flue each work station separately.
  11. In bags in the shed at present but when I extend the shed then it will go into a purpose built bin.
  12. I had a little hand cranker that kept jamming on me. When I pulled it apart the gear shafts had worn the housing holes to an oval shape. I drilled out the holes, made some brass bushes and off it went again. Maybe time to get physical with the beast.
  13. Welcome to IFI. Sounds like you have a few projects in the pipeline. I would love to see some of your bits when you make them.
  14. Just get that mercury to a chemical disposal centre ASAP. That stuff is dangerous!! DO NOT go sticking hot things in it, the Hg vapours given off will go straight into you via your mucous membranes then its a downhill run for you.
  15. Took him four days of polishing just to take the photo. Now its back to the dust and grime of everyday life for those little babies :)
